Hey FH, I recently got an idea to make an inclosed map set in space that would give the simulation of being in low/zero gravity. I was wondering whether the map's angle should inverted (like being sideways, slanted, etc instead of being perfectly straight) to add to the floating simulation, though that may bother some players if it's too disorienting. I've also decided it will be set on a UNSC space staion that's being boarded or under attack.

I'm planning to make the map for Invasion (either Elites boarding and Spartans defending or Spartans retaking the damaged Elite occupied station). My idea for the map's design is to make most sections pretty wide and open with catwalks like Boarding Action or Sword Base to encourage use of jetpacks and jumping (and yes you would die if you fell down to the bottom). I haven't decided on the 3 phases yet, but it would probably be the usual TT/TT/CTF setup.

I could use some constructive criticism to refine this idea, and if you need any extra details just ask. It would be appreciated if you gave some suggestions as to what you'd do with this idea and if I hear a great idea that I'll definitely include, I'll mention the suggestor in the map's feature.

    Thanks.

I tried a similar map a while back. Two things I would recommend would be to avoid outside areas in the map (they kill the in-space effect) and an FX.
I used purple, but thats a personal preference. Also be aware that if you do you use an FX, it will not be welcome in the competitive map section, so avoid FX's if this is where you want to post.
As for the slanted effect for the ship, I wonder if it's too much work for the final product? If its a slight slant it will definitely be irritating placing the objects and a ship on its side will make it difficult to balance gameplay while keeping the ship ship-like.

Also remember if you use a territories set-up in invasion that you probably want a larger territory to offset the large jumps.

    Just my two-cents.

Are you talking about building an enclosed ship and have custom settings for low garvity or actually building in space? I couldn't really figure it out from your description. I don't know how you would build in space though because Anchor 9 doesn't look that big?

Thanks for the advice, I was considering adding FX but there's really no point since the whole map will be enclosed. I already knew that the outside would kill the space feel. And I think I might do a slight slant to add to the feel of artificial gravity not working and zero-g.

Actually, some FX could work in your favor. Use FX to make a nighttime feel, then make some windows on top of the ship, so they only see the sky, therefore making it look like space.
