Ok i know what your thinking i already saw this map an it was bad. Ok i got it and im hoping by the time im done it a very good competitive map. There were a few preconditions in place while making the map. 1. the competition demands that i only spend 4000 k on geometry and can have up to a 5000 k w this extra 1000 k is for weapons and game items only. these were the main Design elements i was considering while making the map. 1. i wanted the map to be long. 2. I wanted to divide the map in to section while still leaving some of it open for good mid to long range combat. to accomplish this i used line of sight blockers so that you can only see specific parts of the map. 3. i want the bottom to be a little more of A close - Quarters and provide easy movement accross the map. ( so that games like assualt and CTF dont become impossible to win) What i need From you 1. My base design well sucks at the moment (will give some pics below) I need ideas for making the base really stand out and improve the overall gameplay of the Map i am really hoping someone can share some really good ideas. 2. by looking at the pic, can you spot any issues that may be a problem for the map. its always good to have an extra set of eyes looking over what you done to help identify issue that you may have over looked. Comparison Top = Before Bottom = After Additional pic's Changes Made to the base. New route starts New route ends bear in mind that since the competition only allowed 4000 k i spent most of it on gameplay an a tiny wee bit on looks. I used the Platform Y's to try to give the map a bit of charater but i don't think it quite cuts it. anything you can offer that will help me make this a better map would really be great so thank in advance for the great advice.
Im in the middle of making my map as well, idk if itll be only 4k but ill try, its basically a circle middle, with 2 kind of guardian gold lifts connecting to hallways here let me try and do it Yea.... nvm didnt work;lol anyways you map needs some cover in the 2nd pic its very linear and whoever is on top of that 3rd ramp 2by2 has a very easy kill from somebody just entering the first ramp 2by 2 near the bottom of th epic, see what I mean, unless you were already going to do that (seeing how this is still a WIP then disregard this and cut back on those linear LOS in general, from what I see DMR would be very overpowering and again disregard this because you may already do this and it is still a WIP
Most of my cover is on the bottom of the map. i wanted the people who take the high route to have a risk reward kind of relationship with it. while the bottom has alot of cover and is easier to navigate. But i do get what you mean i been working around inside my head for a while "how am i going to get the walk ways to where you cant derictly see the enemeys base. My intial thought is to place something like a wall in the middle of the walk ways but it would ruin the flow. I know that i shouldnt post the map so often but i find feed back a vaulable part of the map making process. I'll have to see what i can do about giving the top some more cover. Im thinking maybe using inclines to create a hill but i fear the step back on the hill would be to powerful on the outside of the map.
