This is a little compilation I put together that may find some use in unexpected places. It's nothing super complicated that anybody couldn't find out on their own through basic investigation... but why do the work if you don't have to? Almost all game variants have a setting to dictate what weapons and vehicles are placed on the map and can over-ride what is set out by default via Forge. But the exact output that you can expect can be a bit unpredictable, given only a vaguely descriptive label to go by. This is a master list of exactly what all of these settings do. Note 1: there are 2 ways the game goes about achieving these results. Either it replaces weapons/vehicles that are not of the designated set with weapons/vehicles that are, OR it simply deletes weapons/vehicles that are not of the designated set. With options that make use of the first case, it is possible to override and exceed the apparent limit of that item type that is imposed during Forge. This picture shows an extreme example of what is possible: That is 48 Mongooses, made possible by placing every allowable vehicle on a map and using the setting of "Mongooses" under Vehicle Set. Note 2: "X" means weapon/vehicle is deleted. Anything not listed in any given setting is not affected. Note 3: The setting "Turrets on Map" seems to be bugged (as I think was the case in Halo 3). This setting has no effect. However, if you select "No Vehicles" under "Vehicle Set", all 3 turret varieties (including the Shade) are removed. So, use this information however you can and let me know if any mistakes are found. This looks like it took quite a while - more so getting the data than anything else. However, I'm sure this will be incredibly useful for many forgers out there (though I'm sure I'll never need that many of a particular weapon or vehicle based on the maps I make). Is there anything along these lines possible with grenades? Or maybe that's somewhere in the list and I just didn't see it. However, and maybe I'm just too tired to comprehend it, the paragraph on turrets seems a little fuzzy. Are you referring to the fact that the system Bungie made considers turrets vehicles?
When you look at the Weapons and Vehicles menu, you see the following lists (and a few others): Weapons on Map Grenades on Map Vehicle Set Abilities on Map Turrets on Map Powerups on Map all except "Weapons on Map" and "Vehicle Set" are incredibly simple: everything on or everything off. So yes, grenades can be affected but via a different part of the menu. The "Turrets on Map" is completely useless, as you can change this setting to on or off but it has no effect on anything. The turrets are affected by the "Vehicle Set" menu but only if the final option of "No Vehicles" is selected. I think I forgot to list that one, I'll add it on.
Darn. I was hoping there'd be a way to trick the game into letting me have more Falcons. On the other hand, you could have 4 more Scorpions. That would be...pretty crazy. I can't think of anything that would really need that, honestly, but why the hell not.
Only 48 mongooses? I'm sure I managed 56 warthogs. Another 1 per player if you can set vehicles on the map in Race!
