Creator(s): Blade Monkey751 / GOTCHA XD Racetrack Name: Thunder Barrel Map Name: Forge World Gametype: Race Description: So cruising through the forums i come across Datastunt's Stunt Track Contest and so I thought... this contest would be an opportune time to finally build a track around a barrel roll jump i have been perfecting over the last two months. And it's not even just one barrel roll but two! And trust me when i say they work 99.99% of the time! I dare anybody to try and have an unsuccessful landing and show me proof (you can't drive through backwards ). I have been racing in Halo since the start of racing when Halo 3 came out and the one stunt I have never seen an effective and consistent version of is a barrel roll and so I took it onto myself to finally create a perfect barrel roll! (let me know if I'm mistaken and there has been one created already that works 99% of the time!) And so now i present to you Thunder Barrel! Not only is this a stunt track but it also includes a water slide you drive through one way and back through the other! an underwater tunnels and a huge jump! No matter what type of racetrack you prefer I guarantee you will love this track it features parts of stunt tracks, roller coasters and double wide tracks. My inspiration to create this map has been by the lack of stunt maps I have seen in Halo Reach. I also have been inspired by the lack of a consistent barrel roll stunt and wanting to create the first consistent barrel roll. I have also note seen any front flips in Halo racing either (Wink Wink). How long did it take to create? I have spent an hour or two a day for the last month and before that I have occasionaly worked on making a barrel roll every now and then. Overall I'd guess around 30 hours. What aspect took the longest to get right? Oddly enough the most challenging part was not the barrel roll but trying to create a consistent entrance into the water slide backwards because it is harder than it looks 0.o. However the runner ups are definitely creating consistent jumps and landings for the stunts. Download Here
This map looks sick. I love the use of circular ramps for the water slide. The real question is, where is the barrel rolls? Why are there no pics of them, i was getting pumped to see em, only to find the suspense crushed. I suggest adding those pics and maybe even a vid. But other then that this one of the best stunt/race maps ive seen.
Oh the barrel roll is the first picture you see that says "Thunder Barrel" you can see the mongoose upside down in the middle of the barrel roll.
Your map is a good variation on a normal racing map. As well as your barrel rolls work perfectly 4/4 times I rode thru them they worked. Good job on the overall design it looks great.
I LOVE this map, and I hate racing maps.. or I used to.. This map might have actually given me a change of heart! Barrel rolls are awesome, I love the huge twists and turns, and the map is overall beautiful. Nice job, I don't keep a lot of the maps I download (extremely picky) but this map I'm saving a spot for in my harddrive =] thanks.
I love this map. I had no idea what to expect with the barrel roll but it worked every time and I raced the map a bunch of times already. Great work.
i dont do this often, but while playing your map, i found my self laughing and saying "this is so cool!" and as a whole, it is really good. nailed the barrel rolls and landings, the water thing was another fun feature. and even tho the roads were thin, it was not difficult to drive on.
It should ask you for an image of your map when you create the thread. And you have to make sure that its a direct link (no tags). And also, thanks for all the compliments
This map is awesome. The use of the circular ramps to create a sort of luge feel is awesome and I love how you made the racers go in two different directions on that area. It's a little difficult at first in some areas, but once you get the hang of it, you can really get some speed going. I only raced around it by myself but I'd really like to get a race in with multiple people. Great job!
Just played this, it's a great track with some very cool and cleverly designed moments (in every sense of the word) although the final bit resulted in everyone hurtling into each other for about two minutes, might want to skip that section unless it's necessary. Other than that it certainly has the right gimmick/comfort ratio.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quite simply the best race track ever. Barrel rolls were spot on there were two places where players got stuck on occasion. At the second dunk in the water if u die right after you respawn of balance and the mongoose would slip backwards into the water and kill u. Also at the mancannon vertical lift, if youre gunnin it as you enter some times you will miss the cannon and get stuck. Regaurdless we have played it like 20+ times and its always a huge hit. just failed a jump, and its spawnkilling me on spawn. oh yeh, and put some kill barriers at the bottom. Part from that ITS DUCKING INCREDIBLE!
I have played this map with a group of m8s it was amazing! the only problem was that the barrel roll DID NOT WORK 99.9% of the time like you said in your thread it worked about 80% of the time and it was very anoying for anyone in the lead to be overtake because the jump went wrong. Nevertheless this is a forging masterpiece and one of the best maps (and funnest) racetracks i have ever plsyed on thanks for making it a please make more stunt maps like this
I've recently been on a race binge and this is by far the most unique and outstanding map I've played. So far I've had three total racers on it, and it was very fun. It was competitive to the end and the layout of the map helps with that. The "waterslide" slalom type area is brilliant and as stated the barrel roll appears to be near perfect. Thanks for a great map!

Easily the best race map I've ever played in Halo Reach so many different approaches to aesthetics and everything I am just blown away!The Flips were badass too! I never knew a racetrack could be so long!
