    Plummeting Pilots

    by Sam

    Brief description:

Stay in the air with your unlimited jetpack and avoid the safe haven at all costs. The safe haven is no safe haven at all!

    How to play the game:

The humans must stay in the air with their unlimited jetpacks and avoid the safe haven. The safe haven disables their usage of armor abilities, making them plummet towards the floor where they will meet their untimely death. The humans have concussion rifles and needlers to disorient and push the alpha zombies around.

There are two alpha zombies. Both spawn with evade abilities which are labeled as safe havens. The safe haven switches between the two every 30 seconds. They must use the safe haven to kill the humans. They can also kill any humans on the ground with their energy swords.

Upon suicide, which is when the humans hit the ground and die, they become zombies. These zombies can be killed by the humans, but only when the humans are in the safe haven.

    Scoring:

Last man standing is awarded 10 points. Killing a zombie awards the player with 1 point. Infecting a human awards the player with 1 point.

Changes from previous version of map:

The new arena covers a much smaller area, but it is also much taller than before. One problem with the previous map was that it was way too large of an arena for this game, and I think the size of this map is just right.

The arena is much taller and the humans couldn't possibly jump from the floor and jetpack to get to the very top because the map is too high, so I have made it so that the humans spawn at the very top as seen in the screenshot below. The increased height of the map gives the humans far more room to navigate and more of a chance to avoid the safe haven.

The gametype has been changed around a little bit as well. The alpha zombies move slower to accommodate the smaller map.

I like the Idea of your map so i'll try it out, but i might also want to try making all of the zombies safe havens and unlimited lives so it gets harder to fly away. I think it will be fun either way though.

You cannot make guns safe havens.

I also want to point out that I did not discover that armor abilities could be safe havens. Someone else showed me that, and that person is Sotha Sil.

So this looks awesome and I'm downloading it right now, but I have one question. Do the Pilots become zombies after they die?

I just made some changes to the gametype, and one of the changes was reverting it back to an infinite lives gametype. Yes, now when humans die, they will respawn as a shark zombie. Before it was just a one-life gametype, but I think it is more enjoyable having a huge mob of zombies on the ground. It's more intimidating to the humans than just seeing two zombies run around on the ground.

This is a really unique gametype which makes very interesting use of the ability to set armor abilities as safe havens. It's really fun as a zombie to watch as a human helplessly falls down, trying to save himself, and equally fun as a human.

Also, it's interesting as a zombie how the top of the safe haven creates a sort of circular reticule on your screen when you look up, helping you aim.

It's unfortunate that Bungie really didn't give Infection very much love when it comes to gametype options, it would be cool to be able to give all of the zombies safe havens that don't have to switch (in other words, just the ability to have multiple active havens). IT would also be cool if you could have havens with infinite timers.

I'm actually trying to work on a gametype right now similar to yours, using the "tractor beam" idea from the Forge discussion. Basically, you have a large box like yours, but the bottom is separated from the top by a grid. All players are normally invincible. One zombie spawns on the top, with a "tractor beam" Falcon, and another spawns down below, where the humans spawn. The objective is to trap the humans in the haven, which has zero movement or jump height, and also makes the humans mortal. The zombie can then kill the human. I play on giving the zombies gravity hammers and infinite sprint, so they can attempt to knock the humans around. The humans start off with limited evade, but run a little bit slower than usual.

Your idea sounds cool. I'm not sure how good a view the Falcon pilot would have though.

This is a very awesome map and gametype.
I havent been on FH for a while but from what iv seen this is extremely creative and I cant say much about any flaws.
The only thing that would be a problem is the afk, but you meantioned that so its all good.

I scrapped the old map in favor of a smaller, yet much taller one with a ceiling. I also updated the gametype to go with the new map. You will find that this version plays much better than the old one.
