Alrite, working on a new project and it is going to be an invasion map and I needed help on weapon balancing. ill list the phases. Phase 1: Humans -Sniper -Spartan Laser -2 Gattling Guns Covenant -Banshee -2 wraiths This phase is mostly wide open with the humans trying to defend a small bridge. Phase 2: Humans -Shotgun? -Gattling Gun Covenant -Concussion Rifle This Phase is very compact. At least one human needs to be in the open to plant a bomb. There are three entrances to where the humans are. Phase 3: Humans -Shotgun, if it wasn't in last phase -DMR -Grenade Launcher -Rocket Launcher? Covenant -Banshee -Needle Rifle -Needler -Plasma Rifle -Gravity Hammer -Spiker This Phase Starts in CQC but quickly looses most cover. Humans will have to take a hill. I might decide to place a human spawn however closer to the hill.
Try to limit vehicle usage in early stages unless they are transports and the attackers have a long distance to cover. If the Humans are defending a bridge, make the MMGs well defended with a large kill zone. Get rid of the snipers in Phase one, that should be for the team trying to dispatch the MMGunners. Banshees and Hornets should ALWAYS be the last vehicles given access to, or else they might overpower the other team too much.
Well actually I thought the sniper would be able to balance out the banshee easily and hold off some attackers. The wraiths will have a hard time getting across the bridge though considering that there is also a spartan laser and MMGs. I guess the wraiths could also balance out the MMGs if they are OP. Basicly all the humans are doing is stopping the Covenant from crossing the bridge
I would say give them mongoose's and ghost in phase one their quick an can quickly clear lagre distances. and counter balance the ghost with a gernade launcher althought that might not be powerful enough. in Phase to keep some back spawn near where the vehcicals spawn and introduce some Warthogs or Revenants and counter those with some rockets. In phase 3 keep a few back spawns near the vehical spawns but introduce some tanks and aircraft and counter it with some sparten lazers the vehical will need about a 30 second less spawn than the laser so they have some period of time in which the can make a differece an may break a hard stailmate.
Ok well it seems to me like you havn't read my description of phases. They need to be exact. First off, if you have played ODST, it is the level Oni Building or whatever. Basicly wraiths attack and they go inside. Then they go up to the roof and escape. Now I just decided to put the banshee in for the heck of it.
Why do you have to limit vehicle usage in the first phase? Why can't I shove a whole bunch of power weapons/vehicles on there, make sure they're are balanced and use the map? If you have a story going and you want to stick to then by all means place down what you think will work. Just make sure that the map is balanced otherwise then it will be ruined.
ya... well right now i need help on balancing the first and last phases as they will be the hardest to balance. I figrue the sniper and spartan laser will balance the covenant's vehicles. Last phase however will be hard to balance as the terrain is not yet complete but expect open with a few cqc spaces
