The two characters don't blend in very well, and are slightly too small to be very good focals. Also, the proportions on the sig are slightly odd, though thats not really a big issue. The white auras around the two characters is odd, and creates too much contrast between them and the background, yet at the same time certain aspects do not have enough contrast with the background, such as hobbes' tail.
I don't have any experience or knowledge of how to make stuff like this, but I felt obliged to say something. Looking at the stock and then at what you made of it, I think it came out very nice. It seems like you added a lot of depth while still keeping the picture relatively simple. Although Hobbes's tail is a bit too faded and doesn't match the rest of his body at all. But in the end, I've always loved Calvin & Hobbes, so any work of art revolving around them is a winner in my eyes.
After seeing the stock, I'm amazed at how much you did and how good it looks, but I have a small gripe about the colors. You have every color of the rainbow except yellow there between calvin and hobbes which doesn't give the feel of unification in the picture.
Yea, I can see your point. I tried to make the characters have like a 'warm glow' around them :/ And they're a bit small Okay, I'll try and change the contrasts if I can, and possibly minimize the auras around them. Thanks for the feedback lol sweet, thanks. But yeah, I get what you mean about the tail being a bit faded. I tried to sort of blur it out of the way, but I don't think that worked too well :/ So should I add yellow? I think it's a good idea to make a sort of "unification" color between the two. I'll work on that if i can. I've been on break all week, that's why I've been able to work on these. Now I have school so I'll work on them if i can.
/Clarity Fail I meant use fewer colors. I've noticed that things with fewer colors, usually from a limited color scheme look more professional, and less like some rainbow stuff stuck together by a hippie on LSD. You're really far from the psychedelic side of things, but it might be good to stick with warm colors for calvin an hobbes so they sort of pop out of the blue background. The orange which you're kind of stuck with for Hobbes is going to conflict with the blue background, so you just have to make that work for you in a good way.
