this is my new gate which has an open AND a close button, i have a rendered video of this gate working so here is the link: Bungie.net : Halo Reach : File Details

    how it works:
now for anyone who says that the fusion coils blow the crate over let me tell you this now you know not of the brilliance of how this works. So this is pretty much taking advantage of reaches crazy physics. So, the fusion coils' actual use is to block the gravity (when on fixed or phased gravity cant got through it :/). so when they get blown up the gravity pushes the crate forward, using little push from the explosion.

A cool find, but it seems to be a bit inefficient and inconsistant, that's ALOT of budget.

That's pretty cool. but i think that you should add multiple mines to each side so that you only need to hit the mine once for the door to open.

oh, and i would comment on your b.net thread but I'm blacklisted.

I'm guessing the Landmines detonate Fusion Coils to move the Crate... If that's the case, then this could theoretically work with an enclosure of any size, so long as it has sufficient horizontal bulk to accommodate the crate, two mines, and a few Coils. IOW you could probably build it smaller.

it now becomes obvious to me that you have not properly looked at the map yet, so maybe you should do some research and learn how it works before you post a comment dissin my map. i will write a paragraph about how it works now and edit it into the OP, i will later make a you tube vid on how to make one.

It seems like an interesting concept, but it is something that would just slow gameplay down during a match, especially if you have to hit the mines twice just to open the gate.

If that issue could be fixed, and maybe if you made it so you could open it from one side and close it from the other/open and close from both sides, it would be better I think.
