As some of you may already know, Watering Hole has been a map of mine that I've been working hard on for a while now. It has entered it's final stages (version eight to be exact) and has received some large facelifts and improvements over its old self. Let me give a run down of the map:

Watering Hole is staged in the water of Forge World as you may have already guessed, and features a layout similar to that of a combination of Guardian and Lockout (so I've been told). Within the map itself lies a multitude of jumps and shortcuts for outmaneuvering your less-skilled opponents (if that's your kind of thing anyway). Built as an asymmetric, Free For All-style map, Watering Hole can be played in a team setting (slayer with 8 for instance). The map features wide halls, plenty of freedom to move where you want, and-- well, I'll just let the screenshots do the talking for me.

An overview of the map from on high. Note the increased room around the entire map.

This is what's known as the 'Red Corner' of the map. It functions as the Red Base in team games, and objectives spawn here during FFA gametypes. (NOTE: In Red and Blue corners, a Sniper Rifle specific to Team games ONLY will spawn on the platforms)

This is the 'Tower Hall'. It connects Red Corner and Red Cannon. Behind this building lies the Sniper Rifle (which will spawn during FFA gametypes only). The top of the building houses a Concussion Rifle, and below is a Hammer (where the Sniper is virtually useless).

This is 'Red Cannon' (formerly just known as 'Cannon Corner'). The man cannon here will take you right on top of Red Platform.

This is the 'Raised Hall'. It's the area that connects Red Cannon and Blue Corner. Objectives will spawn here in Territories and FFA gametypes.

This is 'Blue Corner', it's virtually the same as the Red Corner, only in FFA games the rocket launcher spawns near this area.

This is the 'Blue Hall' (or Rocket Dish). It connects Blue Corner to Blue Cannon, and houses the Rocket Launcher in FFA game modes. You can take a shortcut straight to Center Dish from this area through the rock spire.

This is 'Blue Cannon'. It functions in the same fashion that Red Canon does.

To complete the loop within the map, we have the 'Submerged Hall'. This area connects Blue Cannon and Red Corner. Up in the sniper tower lies a Grenade Launcher.

This is 'The Rock'. It's a serious height advantage that at one point during Watering Hole's making had to be protected with a soft kill zone. By reducing the size of the rock spire, players can now have a height advantage, but with limited room to move about. This area was inspired by the rock arch from the maps Zanzibar and Last Resort from Halo 2 and 3 respectively (the ruined arch on the beach).

Watering Hole supports every standard gametype but the Invasion and Race variants. Multi-team support for FFA gametypes is also included, but can create an overly-hectic experience.

I hope you all enjoy this map. A TON of time has gone into making it (since October!) and I hope you all get the most out of it as possible. Cheers everybody, and happy forging.

Looks very nice (the rock work could have been a little better). I love how you had the water coming into the map and made it look flooded. Has my DL. :)

Yeah, the rocks looked much better in earlier versions, but I had to sacrifice aesthetic for gameplay. It was a tough choice, but clear in the end. Thanks for the DL though :)

I've seen a lot of water maps but this one looks pretty good. The rock formations are pretty unique and I can definitely see the Guardian inspiration here. Can't wait to try it out.
