My first post real post on Forgehub!

I'm trying to develop a gametype, and I wanted to ask a few questions about game elements that you don't see in matchmaking.

For one, I wanna know if overshields will remain on a player after the Custom Power Up duration ends. For instance, if I put 4x Overshield as a CPU trait, and then the CPU duration ends, will the OS automatically disappear, or will it slowly tinker away like a normal OS?

Another one. Can there be multiple Bomb Plant/Flag Capture goals for one Flag/Bomb? This was possible in Halo 3, but with only up to three goals. I just need to know if I can get at least that many.

Question three. Does a goal have to be a plate? Or can I make it, say, an armor ability, weapon, vehicle, or even a wall? Please elaborate what can and can't be a Flag Capture/Bomb Arm goal.

Now four. Can a single Invasion objective be used for more than one phase? For instance, can I make one single object a territory, flag capture, and bomb plant point for a whole game?

De Fifth. Under what circumstances can a player's dead body be made to remain in the game? What makes them disappear, and what can prevent it?

Best for last. When I finish my map, I know I'm terrible with spawns. I know there's a lot of discussion on here about spawn dynamics, so I must ask, would anyone be willing to help me develop a good spawn system on my map? It's going to be an invasion map, so it's the most complicated set of spawns there are.

I think that's all I have for now. I've worked around most of my other issues thus far. I hope to preview my creation within the next week.

    1. Not sure, test it yourself
    2. Yes, but only one flag or bomb
    3. Anything can be an objective, but the bomb or flag will just spawn on the object.
    4. Each of those will require a different spawn sequence so no. Using spawn sequence 0 might make it an objective in all phases, but I have no idea.
    5. Either a timer or limit on the number of bodies. I don't see how this would make a difference since you walk through bodies.
    6. Invasion only requires placing objects labeled as invasion spawns, not actual spawnpoints are necessary.
Read this if you have other questions about forging invasion.

    First off, welcome to FH.

Shield traits will remain on the player as long as the powerup is active. When the duration ends, the overshield will slowly drain back down to the base level.

I'm fairly certain that you cannot. Objectives tend to usually only have one active zone at a time, and if you have more than that, I'd assume that the selection is random.

Yes! As long as you set the labels for an object correctly, you can make any object a goal. You could also make it an objective as well - for an example, you could turn a Warthog into an Assault Bomb and have the objective be to drive it into the enemy base.

I would guess that you could. If you couldn't, you could always just make another objective point on the same position and set it for the next phase.

AFAIK from my own testing, as long as the player's body is still moving, it won't disappear. My test consisted of a funnel directing dead bodies into a man cannon that launched the bodies back upwards.

Yep, the spawn system is horribly complicated to understand. You should perhaps ask the creators of the theories on spawn system threads for extra help. I'm sure that they'll be happy to help.

Someone posted on Bnet about a chess-like game; apparently, dead bodies will vanish after a period of time, but only if that player has another, more recent corpse on the map.

From my own tests, I know that dead bodies can desync. If, OP, you are trying the AA-as-objective trick, then you should keep this in mind. If an AA on a corpse becomes an active objective zone, the visible boundaries and waypoint (if any) will desync. The actual boundaries, however, are properly sync'd.

(This would seem to imply that movement would not preserve a corpse, as it could well be moving on one screen and stationary on another.)

I'm pretty sure you can't make objects the bomb, only the bomb plant point.
