Lockout Absolute 2.0 Lockout Absolute 2.0 Halo 2 Recreation This post has been updated with the latest version of Lockout Absolute, a secondary alternative version modified by Pooit with my guidance, and Kill Barrier versions with the top of the map unplayable. All spawns, weapons, and gameplay values were carefully created with the help of an original Xbox on a separate TV. This Lockout does what other do not, and that's play like Lockout with almost all jumps included the way they worked in the original and with Halo Reach's original jump height. It looks really accurate, but a lot of the map looks pretty sloppy, or at least could use some re-forging. Other than that, though, it looks pretty good.
I don't really mean that it's sloppy, but more that some of the pieces could be places in better spots.
looks to me like you could clean up the aesthetics, the middle 5x1s are sloppy and tg 2x2 looks out of place
The entire idea of the bridges was so the middle glass could be there. The only way to make the middle without it being out of proportion was using those bridges. But I guess I can't please everyone. The middle is still very smooth to walk on
Dear god, this is the most accurate Lockout remake I have ever seen. Every jump, every aesthetic, everything from the original Lockout is in it's rightfull place. You can rest assured in knowing you have my definite download. Also, fellas: Yes. Simply watch the video. Start making sense. Now.
Yes it has many of the jumps Halo 2 had as you can see in the youtube video [br][/br]Edited by merge: Haha thanks for defending my map, it's flattering.
Hey FTG. Lovely remake but a few issues: Elbow is off, bad angles, no little bit to the right when coming from the lift room A few pieces could do with being bumped up and down a bit to fit better. See top mid to top BR tower for this The pieces in bottom mid are not big enough, out of proportion totally if you look at original lockout. [br][/br]Edited by merge: Oh and also the window piece should be right in the middle, atm its a bit off. [br][/br]Edited by merge: top mid just looks a bit, i dunno, sloppy? im sure its not, it just looks it. maybe take some attention to aesthetics now ur done with the map [br][/br]Edited by merge: oh and whats up with the inclines on BR tower
I'm not entirely sure about the jetpacking at the end of the video, I don't remember jetpacks in Halo 2 so I wonder how people got up there. I assume you've got proper killzone placement to ensure people aren't hiding or camping in places they shouldn't. (I've seen quite a few maps ruined do to this) But overall I like it, I see so many lockout remakes floating in the middle of nowhere. The lagoon is the place they should be for sure.
Great job. Don't worry about the aesthetics comments. If you're doing an accurate remake, there are going to be times when pieces may have to overlap to get correct sizing. As long as you made sure there's no z-fighting, and it looks like you did, I say overlap to your hearts content to create an accurate representation of the original map.
I got a chance to play it and I must I was impressed. Definitely one of the most accurate remakes out there of Lockout. It also has the Lockout feel which is definitely something I cannot say about most of the remakes.
This map looks absolutely amazing but from a creative point of view is does look very messy. What I mean is that a lot of the objects look unaligned, and thats only because you have tried to keep as many of the original jumps as possible. The only other issue is frame rate lag. I can imagine that there could be shitloads of this. Anyway, great map. Keep forging, you have potential.
I downloaded this and holy crap it is fantastic. The jumps are great, proportions are great, and the map is easily recognizable. I love it, and this definitely feels and plays the same.
Looks good, plays well. 'Nuff said. Actually... there was one major issue that kept me from enjoying this map. The superbounce is broken.
Hey FTG could I get a reply? I dunno, I might be wrong with some of this, but I'd like the creators opinion on my comment
Top Mid window was set almost exactly to how the Original Lockout was. Top Mid is not sloppy, it was set that way so it was smooth and so no pieces lag. The inclines on BR tower are fine. Elbow was set the best I could. This map is not set to Halo 2's physics, it is set to Halo Reach's physics in order to make all jumps as easy as possible to do like they were in Halo 2 without adding extra gravity.
wow no offense this is terrible ..and i dont mean to come off as rude ...but i think u need to update the dl link when i download it im getting a version with no shotgun room like bridges/paths to the middle plus there r these ramps off the sniper and i think top br
