Noble Park Creator: THE Fuglystick Track Name: Noble Park Map Name: Tempest Average Lap: 2:22 Checkpoints: 32 Description: This is my new city map, Noble park, and I think the first city map on tempest. Its low on the building count to give it more of a park feel to it, since I built it on the idea that the map was part of a park built as a memorial site of sorts. The lap runs a bit close to two and half minutes, but you generally are under that. Also, there are two u-turn sections that can be taken from either side, the left or the right. Pictures: The Starting/Center Area The Park Section The Fork. Here are where the two u-turns are that can be taken from either side. What Inspired Your Creation? I was looking at maps for my city map tournament and after a while I started to think of seeing if maybe it would be possible to make one on tempest. How long did it take you to create this track? About 7 or 8 hours. What aspect took you the longest to make? Probably the park section. since I had a limited number of tin cups to use on the scenery areas. Download Here
Smart idea, beautifully executed. Another great racing map from a great forger. I love the challenges that are present in city maps. The fact that it is on tempest adds some new flavor to the mix. Well done.
racing maps are my thing. I tried doing that with my old map New Pago, but I never wound up finishing it. I don't think I have enough budget to add enough weapons to make it a good map, but maybe. I'll take a look at it.
I absolutely love racing maps, and I'm usually not so fond of flat tracks (looks like that from the pictures) but this looks extraordinary! I also love city-based maps. Putting those together makes this an automatic favorite of me. Then, when I tested it out, it was a lot of fun and possibly one of my favorite race maps ever.
This is incredible, it doesnt even look like tempest any more Great work, i cant wait to try it out. Have you tried rocket race on it?
The map is visually stunning but we had a heck of a time trying to find the checkpoints! There are 32 in a lap and they are all over the place, with no real pattern. It plays more like Rally, maybe that was how it's supposed to be, but then why not use the Rally gametype?
It plays out more like a route around structure and scenery more than an actual "track". The easiest comparison I can make to the influence for these maps outside the halo series are the vehicle races in GTA4, racing a route a round the city, rather than a designated track. This kind of map was popularized by Coookkiemonster on Halotracks. City maps do tend to be good for rally/rocket race variants by the non linear routes they tend to take. However, neither of my two city maps were made compatible for rally, as it is not a gametype I regularly play, nor is it a popular one on Halotracks. I addressed this in part with an earlier post, and If I make another city map I will be taking this into account, but this map's checkpoints are laid out in a purposely defined order. If you want to make a version for yourself that is rally compatible, you are more than free too. Edit: Also, thank you chrstphrbrnnn for making this your pick of the week. i appreciate it.
I was soo close, but in the end my earlier mistakes cost me the win. It was a fun and intense race, culminating in last heart pounding minute of flat out, pedal to the metal. @OP, I love your take on race. It's non-linear style keeps racers on edge for fear of bumping into each other, as well it has some pretty sharp turns that require just the right amount of braking. It's a ton of fun to race on!
Yeah, I should have probably elaborated more on why I stuck this haha but I think I was in a rush. Personally, this is one of the best race maps I've played. Yes, it is a bit confusing for about two laps and that's really the only thing I can knock it for but otherwise it's an extremely fun map. Furthermore, it's actually challenging. This has been my problem with race maps since Halo 3: they don't promote skill and challenge the driver. However, Nobel Park does. Even knowing the course the absolute best, it still is fine tuned turns, timely speed bursts and maneuvering through other players that will win you this race. That's what I want to see from race. To top it all off, the map looks excellent. Congrats dude.
this was a fun map to play for sure, i cant add much more that hasnt already been said. this really also shows what is possible within the limited boundaries of Tempest. great job!
I can definitely say that this makes me want to buy the map pack, just throwing that out there. Looks fantastic, keep up the good work, and congrats on the feature.
Crashed pelican looks amazing. Almost as if you put it there. Beautiful scenery and a ton of fun to play on. 10/10
no. one map made by some random dude on the internet should never be worth $10. still though, I actually liked all the dlc maps, so I would have bought them anyway. If you're a forger, tempest has a lot more room than people make it out to have, and you can do some creative stuff if you're willing to work around the environment. The change of setting is really nice too. Thanks, I actuallly built that part of the map around the longsword to give it that feel, going with the "war memorial" theme
Great map I downloaded this and played on it with a few of my friends, and the main issue is that it feels a bit unnatural, from an aesthetic viewpoint, the map is incredible. When you're actually racing on it, it's pretty easy to get turned around. Also, the laps are WAY too long, we ended up ending it before finishing the first lap. I think it's a great map, just needs improvement, like all great ideas.
