    This is my first map posted and my second attempt at forge. I made this map at a friends under his gamertag (terryfinkle). Just wanted to share it.

    Its the kind of map i like to play, with natural and man-made aspects. Set-up for
    4 vs 4 Slayer, but I love to go 1 vs 1 on it. It reminds me of Guardian in a way, somewhat open but plenty of close quaters action too, asymmetrical but balanced. It's been tested, and plays well.

    Very interesting. I really like the use of rocks, gives it an earthy texture! Definitely downloading this one.

    One question though, and this will help me with several other maps too.....

    How does one turn OFF the special color effects on a downloaded custom map?

    Thanks hope you like it.

    • Just find the FX orb and delete it. If you can't find it, add an FX orb and select delete all of these.
    • In Shellshock its above the antenna on the building next to the rock tower with the lights over it.
    • You can see it in the bottom right corner of the first pic.

    THANKS!

    This was what I was looking for. I knew how to delete them **I F** I knew where the orbs were, but if it's a custom map, that orb could be ANYWHERE.


    BTW,
    Downloaded and it is really a GREAT MAP! Thank You!

    For a second attempt at forge, this looks quite good. I'm not a huge fan of the FX, but it's good to see the use of rocks (I like rocks in case you can't tell from my Asteroid Base map :p ) I can't really comment on gameplay, but I guess I'll give it a DL and get back to you on that.

    I'll give this a fly through. I love the massive merging of rocks, you end up with the coolest shapes when you do that. I'll reply back with my review.

    Thanks for the interest and looking forward to some knew feedback.

    Checked out: ASTEROID BASE (Psychoduck) ... I like the use of rocks and the winding walkways. Cool map, will get back after some gameplay.

    &

    ROUNDABOUT (FlyingshoeILR) ... The water in center-map is a nice touch, as you can tell I like to mix natural and structure objects myself.

    I did a fly through, and there were some problems. First of all, there were a lot of power weapons with very low respawn times and high clip amounts, especially the rockets and the sniper, which was on one side of the map at a high vantage point. And those super cool rocks actually have little affect on gameplay and are difficult to see in full scale while fighting. Plus, both man cannons drop you in the same place exactly, which means a massive pile up of players from each team landing here. Its a good start, but honestly it needs a lot of work.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    Duly noted on the respawn of power weapons.

    As for the man cannons, I intentionally have the landing in the same area. It makes for a cool mid-air duel during flight when two players hit the cannons at the same time, and both cannons lead to the middle ground. A pile up never seemed to happen during testing but I definitely see your point.

    Test it out with some slayer it plays better than just a fly-thru might lead you to believe.

    I see how the man cannons could work now. Unfortunately, if I could round up enough people to test this, my own maps would have been fully tested a long time ago. Its hard to communicate to a lot of players without a mic, so I'll try next customs night, but I am not expecting to get much in. Sorry.

    From the overview it looks kinda like blue might have an easier time getting the rockets off the spawn and it also looks like red might have better spawning towards holding the main area of the map. I like the fact that it look like alot of the map is open. I love me a long range battle they alway last so much long it like having a good fight but for a long time.

    Ah I like a good battle with the BR or sniper myself...
    Yea blue does have a little quicker route to rockets, but red has an easier time making it to high ground off initial spawn, and the laser is right down the cave.

    Some power weapons aren't equal distance from both teams initial spawn, but other map aspects tend to level the playing field, at least that's the idea.

    New map overview with all weapons, grenades, and health-packs. Frags are orange, stickys are blue.

    Some weapons, grenades, etc are under what is shown, like rockets are downstairs.
