Hello fellow ForgeHubians, and welcome to my new 2v2 map, Millennium! The original design was supposed to be a 4v4, but after I saw the Throwdown contest, I resized it into a 2v2. And if you don't know what the Throwdown contest is... <--- Click that. Oh, and while we're linking stuff, you can download the unfinished version of the map here, if you'd like. _________________________ Ok, so, on to the map... I have been working on it since Wednesday, and only have the layout done. No spawns, weapons, objectives, ect. I probably will add a lot more little aesthetic touches to it, since I have easily $5000 left in budget, plus some more cover. Also, after this contest is over I'll probably make the full version of the map, so watch out for that, too! _________________________ And while I did just say that I had no weapons placed, here's an idea of what they're gonna look like: Weapon/How Many/Spare Clips/Spawn Time DMR/2/2/30 Needle Rifle/2/1/45 Sniper Rifle/2/0/120 Grenade Launcher/1/4/120 Sprint/2/-/90 Armor Lock/1/-150 Plasma Repeater/2/-/60 Health Pack/2/-/15 Plasma Grenade/2/-/60 _________________________ Ok, now on to the pictures... A view of the center. There are 4 ways into here and each is marked with and "lamp-post" that is whatever color base that that hallway leads to. There are also little ledges sticking out of the wall here that you can walk and jump up to a higher level. A view of gold side, which is opposite of purple side. They are symmetrical, and are probably the least finished- err.. need the most work. A view of purple side, and as I mention above, it's symmetrical to to gold side, as I mentioned above and whatnot. Ok, here is red spawn. The 2x2 there is where red's objective will spawn, and the same for blue. Also, if it isn't obvious by now, this is symmetrical to blue side... ...Speaking of blue side. Here we are, at blue side! this is a view of the "racetrack" that goes around the entire map. It almost inspired me to add mongooses (mongeese?) but I decided not too. Although it's still a possibility. And here is my unbelievably bad drawing of the layout of the map... Very simple, yet sexy design, eh? So, anyways, yeah. That's probably gonna be my submission the Throwdown 2v2 contest. Keep in mind this isn't the final product. But, yeah, whaddaya think?
what do i think? i think you have a lot of potential, but you rush your maps to post too quickly. i am telling you this out of love. besides that, i think it looks nice. pictures are fun to look at. i see a nifty little tactical ramp there... at least i hope thats what it is
Well... I'm not gonna deny that I rush my maps... Way to much... But the potential part is what I'm gonna argue about . And yesh, if you'd read everything I spent 30 minutes typing, then you'd know that it is a tactical ramp... lol But anyways, I'm going to rant for a second about my map rushing problem... Ya see, it's not because I want to post them RIGHT NOW. It's because if there's a map that'll take forever... I get discouraged and quit. It's a bad fault, I know. But I'm working on it. /small rant But thanks for the input. <3
I'm not sure if you were an active map maker in halo 3 or not, but one thing I learned over time is that you actually need to slow things down a bit for yourself. You are much more likely to miss the tiny details when you rush through the forging process. You are also more likely to find new inspiration when you take it a little bit slower. On to the map.. An actual overview would have made this easier to evaluate, but it looks like you've got some good height differences, call outs, and tactical jumps going on. Obviously it's difficult to tell, but having good LoS blockers in these 2v2 maps is vital. There is going to be a lot of DMR fighting so you don't want to have a whole ton of spamming back and forth across rooms.
Well, after thinking about what Titmar said... and playing on some of the MLG map submissions, getting some inspiration... I decided to start a new one. This one, I will take more time on, then you guys decide which one I will submit. I'm about to start designing the new map, it'll probably have a preview by next weekend, no spawns, weapons or anything will be done more than likely. So just keep an eye out for it.
