Brief history of the inspiration of my map (you dont have to read it, but its pretty damn cool). Archimedes used his knowledge of physics to fend off Roman ships approaching the fortified walls of Syracuse. One of the war machines Archimedes created was a giant iron claw, operated by virtually the entire population of Syracuse from inside the city's walls. Outside, the claw was capable of picking up entire Roman ships and plunging them into the sea. Archimedes used catapults and heavy timbers to hurl objects at the ships in the distance . These war machines were complex, but perhaps the most effective (and coolest sounding) of Archimedes' instruments of destruction was the death ray.The death ray. It was actually a series of mirrors that reflected concentrated sunlight onto Roman ships. The ships were moored within bow and arrow range (in ancient Greece, anywhere from 200 to 1,000 feet (about 60.96 to 304.8 meters)). According to legend, the Roman ships were burned by the collective, condensed sunlight shone from these mirrors [source: McLeod]. Ship after ship in the Roman fleet caught fire and sank in the Mediterranean, casualties of the death ray. Now onto the good stuff Low def video HD video In phase one, the elites try to invade the castle. The gates to the castle are CLOSED in the first phase, the spartans must defend the gates while the elites must capture it (territories). When they gate is captured the elites must bring the bomb up to the gates to blow the gate up. When they gate is blown up(the gate spawns down) the 3rd phase begins. The elites reinforcements arrive via ship (it spawns in the 3rd phase in the water, they must help the other elites capture the "Hand of God" statue as it will destroy Archimedes source of power for his Death Ray. More things open up throughout the game such as "The blessing of the holy one" in the graveyard, Archimedes advanced weaponry, crossbows, posin weapons and a catapult. New spawns and ships also appear throughout with the addition of new classes. Tier 1. (Same for spartans and elites) 1. -Sword -1 frag or plasma nade -sprint Tier 2 1.same as above Tier 3 1. same as above 2. Conc. Rifle gernade launcher Drop shield 3. Sword 1 nade evade Any suggestions? Please post! I need your help!
It seems like it could use a little more cover in between the spawns and objectives. Its pretty good looking, nice structures. One other thing though, I'd make the black text in the description a different color. Black on off-black is somewhat hard to read.
Well, my theory is, since there really arent that many ranged weapons....it wouldnt matter. Thoughts?
I love the aesthetics of the castle, the boat, etc. The one thing that feels out of place is the death-ray. There should be some more cover throughout the map though as it would be difficult to capture objectives and such.
Well the death ray is the theme of the map. If you read the first paragraph i posted, it explains it. Archimedes used giant mirrors to reflect the sun and burn Roman ships, thats why the death ray exhists. Also, thanks. I tried to make the castle look as real as possible
I know you're trying to go for a theme, but making everyone stuck with swords for the first two phases could be really boring, especially with the open spaces of hemmorage, and everyone will just use the concussion rifle/grenade launcher class in the third tier so everyone will just be running out of ammo constantly. I honestly don't see the point of having two phases where attackers and defenders have the same weapons throughout, and the objective is in the same place. Finally, how on earth are the defenders supposed to hold out against a plasma launcher and a sniper rifle in the third phase. Also did you use the stuff here for the floating weapons, or make them fixed. Remember fixed or phased weapons have significant problems.
It isnt pictured, but the defenders have an equal amount of sniper rifles and plasma launchers in addition to a wraith that cannot move(acts as a catapult). Also, thanks for the input, its greatly appreciated
