Inspired by Halo 2 Campaign mission 'Regret'. Supports S, Sp, A, T, KOTH, HH and CTF. 6-12 players. FFA/TEAM Remorse is a competitive map designed around the aesthetic qualities of the Halo 2 Campaign Mission: 'Regret'. Due to size issues, budgets, items shapes and the fact it is designed for Multiplayer purposes, Remorse is far from a direct remake. However, this doesn't mean you won't take a trip down memory lane when first stepping foot in the Collesium. All the weapons found in Remorse are actual weapons you can find in that particular section of campaign, if that weapon isn't available in Reach, then it's substitute is present (i.e Carbine > Needle Rifle) Weapon List: Fuel Rod Cannon x1 Sniper Rifle x2 Energy Sword x1 Plasma Grenades x10 DMR x14 Needle Rifle x2 Plasma Pistol x2 Overshields x1 Both bases are symmetrical, pictures are taken from both Red and Blue base. Mouseover for comparison. The Only addition to these parts are the Teleporters which take you straight up to the Sniper Rifle. As for the central region of the map, the changes were quite significant. Two large bridge ways were formed and the two ends of the middle section were cut out completely joining what would have been 4 brace larges per side, down to two. This was sheerly because of object limit and the size of the collesium. It made it significantly more difficult to even try a direct remake. Thanks for reading, and I hope you like Remorse; even if it's only because it reminds you of a great campaign level... omgomgomgomg. I loved this map the... 5 to 10 times I tested it. It plays amazingly well, I also love all of the height differences. My favorite was KoTH, which I usually hate. And my least favorite (not saying I didn't like it) was CTF, which is my favorite gametype in the game. So you did something unique here Anyways, great map, Mr. Steve. I hope to play all of your maps when you ***** them out in one of your custom lobbies sometime soon. <3
This map was definitely pretty fun during testing, and it definitely captures the feel of Regret quite well, all things considered. I'd probably give it an 8.5 out of 10.
What a wonderful idea for a map! I remember playing this part of the campaign mission over and over again. Not because it was particularly hard, just because i loved the layout and the atmosphere. Honest! I'm glad to see other halo veterans that enjoy reliving these golden moments as well and sharing it with the rest of the community. Where's that 'like' button?
Hey dude, thanks for you comment, and I'm honored that it's your first on the forums too!! I did really enjoy those Delta Halo missions... definately some of my favourites from the whole Halo series. Thanks again, oh and Welcome to Forgehub
I got to play this in the very early stages of development. I gotta say that it didn't turn out as bad as you were thinking it did..this map does really remind me of that campaign level. I swear It took me a million years on the harder difficulties. Btw, nice prophet.
YES! I have been hoping someone would try to create a map out of this area since H3 Forge... The whole level is definitely one of my favourite campaign levels of the series and I have fond memories of this particular part... despite it being insanely difficult on legendary haha.
Fine then, ignore my generous previous comment D: Anyways, you have DMR x14 in the OP, I'm guessing you meant 4, since 14 would be a bit out of place... Just letting you know.
Lol I wasn't ignoring your comment, I just didn't want to be seen as bumping my thread up constantly so was waiting for a few more replies to address in one post. But I thank you anyway Erupt. This isn't one of my most favoured maps simply because I wanted a perfect remake... as unlikely as that is, I felt I let myself down a bit with Remorse... even though it's turned out to be a fun map to play Also, no, there is 14x DMR's. There's two on bottom base exit, one per top exit, one per each Brace Large location and two in the centre beneath the needle rifles so no matter where you spawn, you have access to a DMR. Cheers ducky, I wouldn't be so generous, but maybe i'm being overly critical Haha jake.. my prophet rocks and you know it Yeah, I wanted to make it in Halo 3.. but I knew that was a very very farfetched idea, but when Reach came out, after familiarising myself with forge I thought it would be possible to directly remake it... but I was wrong, and Remorse is the adaptation of a Multiplayer equivalent
Dont beat yourself up about it Stevo. Sure, its not perfect, but still it is recognizable to most and has some decent gameplay. Oh, and the prophet is just awesome. I think that Reflect takes some of what made this cool, and improves upon it quite a bit, so I'm looking forward to that map's release.
This map is pretty flippin' awesome. I felt like I was back on Delta Halo, the architecture is damn near perfect and the "Prophet" is a nice touch. (BTW icwutudidthar, your Prophet "rocks") I would give it a 4.5/5, only 4.5 because of the extreme abundance of DMR's, seemed like I couldn't move without being shot up x)
I completely forgot about this map until I DL'ed it and played on it. But once I did I remember I was in a couple playtest sessions on it and I remember enjoying capture the flag the best. I never liked the fuel rod gun however but it is true to the actual area so meh.
lol, glad someone got that Well for a very open area, people tend to stick to the higher levels which is why there are plenty of weapons to combat the cross-map shooting. However, players often don't run through the lower levels which provide much more cover which is a good way to avoid conflict when transisting both sides. The only exposure on the bottom level is reach the centrallised doorways on each base Indeed, I couldn't think of an adequate weapon set, so went into halo 2 and looked what that area contained and what you could take into that area with you. Other weapons I could of included were either shotgun / needlers / beam rifles.
I remember this map from its first couple of versions and how fun it was to play on, even though it was a 3 man FFA. The size of the map means that it works well for many gametypes, and caters for all different sizes of parties when playing. I never played Halo 2 campaign so I cant really comment on how accurate this remake is, but it still plays like a beauty and should definately get some high praise from the community.
I've been waiting for someone to use this idea since 2004. And then, to my surprise, no one within the Halo CE PC community used this area for a multiplayer map. It sucks that I had to wait 6 1/4 years just to finally see this remade, but better late than never, I guess. Surprisingly, it's not disappointing. It's so accurate that I feel like I'm actually playing that part of the Halo 2 campaign. (A multiplayer version of it, of course)
Thanks 4shot. This map doesn't feel as good as it could to me, but due to limitations I think I did a pretty good job. If we ever get a newer Forge map with more pieces/budget and less framerate issues on it, I'd like to take another stab at this Also thanks for the fhf nomination
