Hi Forgers! I've been lurking around here awhile, and working with Forge casually since Reach came out. This is my first practical map... so far I've mostly been playing around with aesthetics and whatnot, getting a feel for the system and helping friends with their projects. So, without further ado but a tad bit more explanation, I present to you: Ignoble Gamma Site! This is where that little bit more explanation comes in. The Ignoble concept started out as a joke; a name for my particular group of friends (as in 'Ignoble Team'), as well as for a particular set of gametypes I created for us, each game featuring a set of customized loadouts- one loadout for each of us, complete with favored weapons, armor ability, and grenades. (As an aside, why don't we get regenerating grenades???) After playing around for a while with an Ignoble Team Firefight match, I created the No 'I' in Ignoble Team gametype linked above. That of course needed a map... a basecamp, if you will. Ignoble Alpha Site, my first attempt, looked great but wasn't very functional. So I took what I learned and started again, but it quickly became clear that I was on the wrong track with Ignoble Beta. From here, I scaled my ideas back a bit, started from scratch, and started anew. From those attempts came Ignoble Gamma- a derelict research outpost abandoned years ago in the lagoon area of Forge World. Repurposed and reactivated by our industrious (and ill-funded, maybe?) Ignoble Team, it is clearly in the most early stages of repair: the walkway from the landing pad is broken, there's a walkway hanging by a thread leading to a collapsed section now barely sticking fro the water, and that mysterious glass elevator tube in the back has snapped off right above the water. Where did that lead? The map was made for our own brand if stupidity, and currently lacks weapon spawns. Therefore it's best suited to custom or unlimited ammo games, or otherwise any game where weapon pickup is relatively minor. Weapons will come in the future... I've so far been focused on refining movement around the map and making it compatible with multiple gametypes. So.... here are some pictures! This is an overview of the entire base. On the right is the landing pad; the structure is composed of two main floors, plus a series of maintenance catwalks underneath, plus the roof. This is a closeup shot from above the landing pad. Center screen is a collapsed walkway; in the waters below you can see another wing of the outpost brought down b an avalanche. Slide down the catwalk and fall into the destroyed, submerged section for a neat surprise- you'll find yourself hurtled up through the destroyed elevator at the shaft, rescued from a watery grave by a conveniently placed teleporter! These are the maintenance catwalks. You can see they've seen better days, but they're still sound... mostly. The man cannon on the bottom right throws you up to the landing pad; towards the right hand side you can see a gravity lift that will deposit you on the first floor of the main building. This is the second floor landing. There's a man cannon in the maintenance catwalks that will fire you up to the left side of this level; The ramp at the bottom of the screen leads to stairs that will take you down to the first floor. The roof can be accessed by the staggered columns by the second-floor door, and there are two gravity lifts- one at the back, above the elevator, and one on the ledge at the front of the building. So... here it is. Ignoble Gamma Site, along with our own Ignoble slayer gametype. I'd love to hear what everyone thinks of it... constructive criticism is more than welcome. I'm proud of this map as my first serious attempt; I hope to only improve my skills from here.
Looks very nice I like the idea of the map and the collapsed parts make for very nice detail. We may have to collab together for a future project sometime
Thanks for the kind words! I hope you have as much fun as playing on Gamma Site as I had building it. My suggestion: grab some friends, download No 'I' in Ignoble, and change the loadouts to suit you. Ridiculousness abounds. Also, by the way, evade+gravity hammer is FUN.
