    Retroactive
    Created by Col Keller

    Recommended Players: 2-8
Recommended Gametypes: Team Slayer, MLG TS, CTF

Col Keller's Retroactive is a map we should have been fully aware of from day one. However, the past is rectified today with the feature of this exceptional competitive map that has proven it can stand the quickly evolving nature of Halo: Reach.

At heart Retroactive is an MLG map with inspiration from Bungie works such as Prisoner and Longest. However, it isn't your typical MLG design; Retroactive is home to some tighter corridors separating different rooms and atriums. It's symmetrical, two-base design already has competitive play in mind, but what really causes the map to shine is the exceptional thought put into the flow of the map. A mixture of one way drop downs, quick jumps, corridors and rooms create an intricate yet still not confusing network of paths. Trying to flee won't be too successful if your enemy chooses to work together and cut you off at every turn. This leads to a surprising mix of the closest ranges to some clutch, cross-map DMR rescues.

Not to leave any players out of experiencing his creation, Col Keller has also equipped the map for a wide array of gametypes; including infection and race! While the map's true strengths obviously lay in the competitive gametypes such as Slayer and Flag, it's certainly worth checking a few of these other gametypes out just to experience the entire breadth of this map.

Through countless, painstaking hours in both Halo 3 and Halo: Reach. After numerous revisions and tests, Col Keller has crafted one of his finest creations to date. Given his toil, it is almost shameful for you not to, at the very least, check out this map.

I'm quite happy to see this map finally featured. The geometry is beautiful and everything feels quite fluid and has that clean overall aesthetic. I managed to get a few games on an older version of this map and they were a lot of fun. No one area was overly dominant or too difficult to overcome. Congrats on the feature!

Awesome! I really liked this map but wrote it off as never having a chance, and here we are!

Congrats Col Keller, a really special map that we can all appreciate for it's unique approach to a classic idea.

Congratulations to Col Keller. This is one of the best maps I've seen and I'm glad it wasn't forever "lost in the system".

Congrats dude, I saw this map in it's very very early stages. Pretty much just after it was completed (No roof etc...) and I see there are some other improvements. It played pretty well in the early stages, so I'll give this one a DL. Good job.

I said I was done posting here, but this I can't pass up. Retroactice was, and has continued to be, one of my favorite maps in Halo Reach. I can't wait to see this in MLG V3. Congratz on the feature man.

my god I saw a ghost ^ lol

Anywho...I've played this map a couple times and agree with the feature. This map plays great for competitive games. I haven't played one slayer game on this map where I didn't do well and the match didn't flow well. The different levels really mess with your radar sometimes and adds that layer of strategy that is missed in many maps. Good job col keller.

ah it's about time. This one has been lurking around in competitive customs for quite a while now. Games always flow nicely on this guy, congrats on the feature. Definitely deserved.

    Also, refreshing write-up chrst.

  14. Wow, congrats on the feature. This map's design is absolutely beautiful. The interior is also really amazing, so clean and smooth. But anyways, congrats with the feature.

WOW... and i was going to post version 9 tomorrow....

LOL, Guys if you like this map... PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE... download the updated version (FREE OF FAMERATE PROBLEMS). I know I have said that before but I really did get rid of some of the problems that plagued this map in Version 8.

    Version 9 is a 100 times better.

Although I promise to keep version 8 up in my fileshare for everyone who likes it better. Peace, and have a great day everyone.

I'm imagining that during that period of silence from the staff, there was a building up of at least a few older maps that deserve it. I wouldn't be surprised to see more maps from the past few months gracing the page for a second wind.

What I'd like to see from the community is more positive reactions to the staff's work. There will be features coming from members who don the colors, and there will be more work featured from fresh blood as well. I'd like both to be equally received by everyone for what they are, great works of art.

Nice write-up Chris, felt very old school.
