-Description- FFA Arena Challenge was a clan requested map. The map's purpose is to be skill intensive and highly competitive. Each player has 5 lives and 3 rounds to get as many kills as possible with the custom load outs provided. Each round starts off hectic but slows down to a crawl. I recommend no more then 8 players at a time. FFA Arena Challenge has been play tested and polished to provide balanced game play. Think you're ready? *Notes: the map can handle 10 or 12 players, multi team, and even team slayer of any color teams but the map/gametype was designed and balanced for 8 player FFA. I'm also well aware this is my third map with grid flooring but it was part of the request, along with the spectator box, and paintball field looking center. Update 1/20/2011: Spawning has been tweaked to cause less spawning up on the rafters. -The Loadouts- Name: Stalker Weapon: Shotgun AA: Sprint Grenade: Frag x2 Name: Guard Weapon: DMR AA: Armor Lock Grenade: Frag x2 Name: Specter Weapon: Magnum AA: Camo Grenade: Frag x2 Name: Sharpshooter Weapon: Sniper AA: Hologram Grenade: Frag x2 -Map Weapons- Grenade Launcher x1 Assault Rifle x3 Frag Grenade x4 Health Pack x4 (One by each large cylinder.) -Screenshots- Grenade Launcher Location.
great map and idea, however the load outs are horribly unbalanced. You need to go all or none with the power weapon load outs.
They worked fine in the multiple play tests, weapon pick up is not disabled so you can switch weapons or have two power weapons. The reason camo doesn't get a power weapon is to avoid promoting camping, best thing to do is clean up a kill and pick up their weapon. If you're referring to the DMR/AL class they get AL so the weapon is toned down, but it's still good, frag + head shot gets you a power weapon. The sniper isn't as strong as in matchmaking due to the small and hectic nature of the arena. needless to say the shotty is obviously weak at range. Oh and lastly they'll be power weapons littered around the map due to deaths so you may not even need to get a kill for one. Best advice I can give you is to actually try it and see for yourself. I would upload videos but I don't have pro yet.
That doesnt change the strength, i would really recomend no sniper start. I can no-scope very well...the smaller the map, the easier it is to do for me
If you can no scope like a god then you deserve to win, but you forget its an 8 person free for all you can't watch your back and fight a person in front of you at the same time, what if 2 people attack you at once? Not only that who ever wants a sniper can start with one/pick one up so it's not like you have some unfair advantage they can pick sharpshooter and no scope their hearts out too and it becomes a battle of who's better which is what this map aims to prove. Point is good players can and are supposed to consistently win. Again best advice is to try it, if you don't like it fine, it's not your cup of tea. It's been polished not just randomly slapped together, there is a sandbox going on between armor abilities and weapons.
