9-Volt This is the first(and currently only) map I made using Chris Carney's method: draw a scheme on paper and adapt it into Forge. It's one of my favorites that I've made and I'm proud of it. I do want some people to help test it and tell what they like and don't like so I can tweak it to perfection or what works best. I tried to support as many gametypes as possible, but I got lazy when I made it back in November. I was told many things about Forging, or I read them on forums. One of those was to tell people where the weapons on your map are. Well here's a breakdown: Top ----- Rocket Launcher - Center DMR - Red Base Plasma Rifle - Left of Red Base on walkway Assault Rifle - Left of Red Base at corner Plasma Launcher - beside Man Cannon left of Red Base Shotgun - On landing pad Left of Red base and right of Blue base Needle Rifle - Between corner and Man Cannon right of Red Base Assault Rifle - On walkway between corner and landing pad right of Red base Plasma Rifle - On landing pad right of Red Base Energy Sword - On landing pad right of Red Base Assault Rifle - On walkway between corner and landing pad left of Blue base Fuel Rod Gun - beside Man Cannon left of Blue Base Plasma Repeater - On walkway Left of Blue Base DMR - Blue Base Shotgun - On walkway right of Blue base Bottom -------- Concussion Rifle - on Circular Ramp behind Red Base Sniper Rifle - on railing of bridge behind Red base Shotgun - on walkway Under Red Base Gravity Hammer - On Red Base Needler - in Center Magnum - On walkway to Lift to Landing Pad left of Red base right of Blue base Grenade Launcher - On walkway next to Lift to Landing Pad left of Red base right of Blue base Plasma Pistol - On walkway to Lift to Landing Pad left of Blue base right of Red base Sniper Rifle - On railing of Bridge next to Lift to Landing Pad left of Blue base right of Red base Magnum - On walkway under Blue Base Gravity Hammer - On Blue Base Plasma Repeater - On Circular Ramp behind Blue Base Grenade Launcher - on Circular Ramp behind Blue Base Please tell me what you think ^^ This is a view of the map from a much lower angle and shows off the aesthetic part of the map(the "Orbital Defense MAC gun being created") This is the lift to the Landing Pad left of Red base right of Blue base; the reason I know that is that their is no Sniper on the rail. ---------------- I added some cover in a revised version of the map, and tried to make wider walkways(I will improve this better later, cover was my main concern) The Mid-bottom now covered The landing pads on the left and right of Red and Blue base have been revised to have better cover but still allow jumping access to the center. The bases have been covered like such
There are quite a few game-ruining problems going on with your map at it's current state: 1. You have a lot of very long, narrow walkways. These are terrible because they offer no strafing room and absolutely no cover. 2. Top and bottom mid seem to be lacking cover all together. Not a single piece of cover can be seen from any of those pictures and that is NOT a good thing. 3. Every weapon shown is a power weapon. This may have worked if your map had cover. Seeing as it doesn't I can't say it's going to play out well at all. Take a look at other maps to get a better grasp of what needs to go into a competitive map. It's not simple, but I think with more practice you can easily get better.
Thanks, I'm not the best Forger out there for sure xD But I love doing it. Weapon placement and Spawn placement are not my strong points when it comes to Forging. The only thing I knew was a good move was placing the Rocket launcher in the direct middle for around 8 people playing, because then everybody would be scrambling for the rocket launcher. I'll work on the cover and weapon placement and revise the map.
