Some of you guys may have already heard of this game, Breach was originally slated to be released in June of 2010 but the developer (Atomic Games) missed their window with Microsoft in the XBL Summer of Arcade so they took the next window of January of 2011.

EDIT: It's been confirmed, Breach is coming out 1-26-11

If anyone remembers, Atomic Games are the same people who have made simulators for the US military in the past (not sure about foreign militaries.) And were also the ones making the game Six Days of Fallujah, a third person military shooter retelling the event in the Iraq war. However thanks to the controversy that quickly stirred because of the game Konami backed out on the deal.

Also the current CEO of the company (Peter Tamte) is the former Vice President of Bungie Studios.

So Atomic plans on publishing the game themselves, using the same engine they created called the Hydrogen engine, Breach boasts an advanced destruction physics known as destruction 3.0, basically the same stuff you saw in Red Faction: Guerilla. add in a 3rd person cover system and emphasis on realism you're looking at a fairly tactical shooter.

Also the delay was likely the best thing for this game really. Around the same time it got delayed, the military took interest in Breach and wanted Atomic to develop a military simulation mode for the game. So now the game boasts a more arcadey mode (still realistic but more for fun value) and a hardcore mode (the military simulation).

I talked to Atomic on their facebook page a while back and got them to tell me the game features a good level of customization. Here's their exact words when I ask.

The games releasing this month for $15 on PC and 360.

Depending on the reviews and how the demo plays out for me I'm likely to get this game. If not I'll just wait until Section 8: Prejudice comes out (also downloadable) and see how that is.

Or I'll just finally buy the BC2 vietnam expansion IDK.

Anyway what do you guys think?

I've been looking forward to this game since I saw some notes about it on G4 at last years E3. I've watched as many videos as I could find, and I can think of nothing out now that will touch the game play. Its going to fall on the maps, how you "rank up", and its unlock progression that will keep this game going, or have it fall flat.

Several friends and I intend on getting it as soon as it releases.

BTW: BC2 Vietnam is awesome. Flamethrower FTW.

It really is gonna teach people a whole new way to play an FPS in This video one of the devs (former military man himself) basically is saying, "This isn't Call of Duty, stop playing it like that"
