What I hoped would rival gameplay qualities of "The Pit", turns out to be a reminiscence of Citadel... Weapon List: Spoiler Rockets x1 Sniper x2 Shotgun x2 DMR x6 Needle Rifle x2 Plasma Rifle x2 Plasma Pistol x2
Wow, from that only picture, this looks absolutely breath-taking! And you right, it does kind of remind of a mixture of The Pit and Citadel. Honestly, I like this a lot better than I like Envy, this just looks like it holds the attention of the players, even in the midst of battle!
It's green... again... but it looks pretty awesome! Moar pictures otherwise this is more of a teaser rather than preview.
Lol, thanks anthraxe. You should maybe turn up to a test or two to see what the whole map looks like sometime .....so it is. I guess I should message the admins to make a "Map Teaser" suffix huh?
well then, you should turn up to some tests, or join the testers guild I might include an extra picture at some point...
Testing tonight Steve? This map looks pretty cool if I'm honest.. And do you mean it plays like Citadel? because Citadel didn't play so good.
Sure, I'm up for some testing tonight sometime, umm I guess just message me on xbox. Those stupid time-zone differences. Just let me know.
I liked the old name better, but you should definitely rename this as "The Pitadel" cuz that would be awesome. Anyway, this is a fairly basic 4v4 TS/Multi-flag map, but the aesthetics are good and the grenade bouncing is great on this map. I've definitely enjoyed our tests here.
Citadel had two originally.. and neither rifle has a spare clip.. so it needs to be utillised tactically.
I don't think you understood what I said. Halo is based on the ideal of everyone having a fighting chance in almost any encounter if they go in with full shields. Shotguns swords and gravity hammers sacrifice range for the power to turn a corner and instantly kill someone; snipers don't. Just because someone has immense skill with a sniper rifle doesn't mean the other team should be subjected to instant death. On larger maps the sniper rifle becomes a support weapon because someone can see the long distances, and if he dies, it will be where teammates can pick it up instead of enemies. Without this, the "tactical" role you're thinking of becomes try not to die which would mean giving it up. Also when you say "originally" does that mean Bungie took it out because it was like the scorpions on Hemmorage?
Oh no, i was saying originally in the sense, this map didn't used to have two. but they add another aspect of the map and it works well. Given the snipers spawn location, it's in a pretty useless place... so you move back to a higher elevated place which makes it more effective. This elevated place has strategic lines of sight blockers that merge together to create a solid wall from one angle, and a nice open region from another. I meant by the "tactical" role is that players will sacrifice a high-ammo weapon, that may be more effective in nearby situations, for a 4 shot weapon. Paired with the map restrictions, lines of sight and player movement, the sniper has only a few effective areas, all of which can be approached from numerous angles. It's most effective in capture the flag from the objective point.. but even so... the 4 shots are fired rather quickly leaving you with the 120s respawn rate before you can use it tactfully again. So, in light of that, it's used essentially as a fall back tool whilst defending, if you're being overwhelmed, you use your shots. If you die, it's not a huge loss as the weapon may only have 1 or 2 shots left.. pairing that with the attackers, it loses it's effectiveness even more. It's a good side-arm basically, but that's all it is, which is why it's the first weapon players can reach (besides DMR's etc...)
