Wow, its remarkably hard to see this as Tempest... that being said, was it really a good idea to make a map on Tempest that could just as easily been made in Forgeworld, considering the amount of people who have yet to indulge in the Noble Map pack?
to the vid. i was the person at 45 seconds. my name was first in the testers credits, although very simple editing and music, it covers the map very well and it doesnt look over produced like some people make vids now-a-days. to the pix. in the blue snipe room picture, thats me power whoring for some lulz. to the map. awesome gameplay, its very simple layout with the combination of height variants with mulitple jump ups and routes make for complex gameplay. in most MLG games, you cant just out play your opponent but also out smart them, and in this map particularly, you need lots and lots of smarts to win games...unless of course your teammates go like neg 30... yea...
You were also the person @ the end that had the no scope. You can't tell from the vid but you jumped top bridge and sniped immediately, ending game
Map plays wicked good... And I loooove the jump ups. @Inferi Tempest was chosen because it lacks the frame rate issues of Forge World to some extent. We also wanted to prove that its possible to make a Colosseum sized map here.
Its sad that I was always against your power whoring ass, so my team never had more than 20 kills... -.- Like Schnitzel said, framerate. I also love the light that Tempest adds to it, so I'm not complaining. Yeah, And I was the one getting sniped... -.- Controlix </3 Anyways, I love this map. All the jumps, the lighting. And random: but why do the struts have opacity? or, how actually? I could never figure it out... Hm. Anyways, I liked this map even in getting crushed 20-50, however it would have been much more enjoyable if I had half of a chance... Oh and the video flythrough was awesome, and thank you for thee special title of "Tester."
This is on Tempest!? I can not tell at all. This is a really good map, simple and smooth. For some reason, I'm getting a cold storage vibe from this map. Did that influence this at all?
Awesome map is awesome. Kinda reminds me of Cold Storage if Cold Storage didn't suck. There are a couple long, narrow hallways that kinda break the action a bit, but other than that, this map is great
As all three of the authors favor MLG and DMR game play, it was crafted with long lines of sight intentionally to favor those. Some might be a little long for ARs, but you do have a Magnum that covers the distances adequately in default gametypes.
this map reminds me of cold storage from halo 3...the aesthetics are good but I think you should have done the map on forgeworld because not everyone has the map tempest...and it seems from the pictures that you used little from the actual map tempest...
That is actually a very good point. There would be very little difference between having it on Forge World. Besides, it's virtually unknown that this is on Tempest and switching locations can get you more downloads.
While that is true, we felt this map would be best on Tempest. The lighting suits it better here and there are less frame rate issues as well. Sure, we won't get as many downloads as not every one has the DLC, but thats not the point. Forging is not about DL count or personal recognition, it's about providing a superior map for the populace's enjoyment. While this is only available to those with DLC right now, in time when DLC is free it will be available to every one.
Exactly, the concern wasn't the amount of downloads and like Secret stated, there was an early idea about building a large map on tempest and he started out the design with that in mind. I think it might have been within the first couple of days the dlc was released that this was started on. Just as well, Tempest lighting is really appealing for me, though some dislike it, I really enjoy the lighting much more and it does make it a bit "cold". Besides, building my Nocturne map on Tempest didn't seem to effect downloads as it had over 1000 and the re-up has over 500 which is more than I've done with any other.
lolololololololol and its not really just power whoring, except when im jsut doing it for lulz, if i have rockets and snipe ill drop one for a teammate cuz i hate having all the power in one place. but on the map, played a game on it tonight, its quite sexy if i do say so myself, i do agree on the "cold" feeling due to the lighting, but it gives me a migraine and makes me want to hurt children. all in all, 5/5 <3
played a casual FFA on this tonite... spawns were weird but i had a decent time overall. i didnt realize until as im writing this that it was supposed to be MLG settings... interesting rework of cold storage though, definitely great forging on here as well. the resemblance to cold storage was apparent immediately to us. i'll have to give it another shot with the proper party size and settings.
ok like i said on amaglam, i will be free for a couple of days this weekend and i want to play the **** out of our maps, i want to finish post (name is subject to change) and i want to play this. the long lines of sight mixed with short close ranged battles make this map truly amazing, its does seem a little open on first play through but the roomy feel to it makes it loveable. lol
Sniping gets really interesting on this map with the Lines of sight. Needs more truck waka waka. I swear if i get another warning.
Sniping can get especially dangerous too! You never know from where death may strike you down. While sniping from one of the jump ups would be an obvious choice, their LoS is limited and broken up by the walls and central structures. Sniping from the perch is generally a good approach, but LoS is even more limited and the players back is exposed to any sneaky opponents. And of course sniping from top bridge, while it offers the most LoS and mobility, is the most dangerous of positions to hold on the map. OT: Bet you got a warning. But seriously, I doubt the staff will be patrolling this thread as hard as they did Amalgam... Probably won't get so many warnings and infractions unless this map becomes immensely popular too.
