If ME3 can improve ME2's combat as much as it was improved from Mass Effect to ME2, it will really be amazing. My only complaints with ME2 were the occasional annoyances with the cover system (randomly letting go of cover from turning to far) and the mineral scanning. Mass Effect 2 easily has the best dialogue system, and combat system of any RPG I've played. It is so totally worth buying Plasma Rifle Elite. Its probably not that expensive anymore.

I don't know if you've played since they updated it, but mineral scanning got at least twice as fast. It's still really lame, but it's not going to eat massive chunks of your play time.

Yes I have been playing quite a bit recently and mineral scanning is much faster now, but its still boring...

I don't see the complaint with mineral scanning on multiple playthroughs. I used it the first playthrough, and now I start the game with enough minerals that I have never even had to touch mineral scanning for my subsequent 4 playthroughs.

    Mass effect 1 was incredible.
Mass effect 2 was even better, but I was stunned at the serious amount of change.

If they can keep the awesomeness of Mass Effect 1, and combine it with the better parts of ME2, like the shooting system, then the game will be incredible.

    ME2 combat and characters + ME1 quality story + better weapon/armor/upgrade system than ME1 or 2 = perfect game.

Wow. I was just hyping myself up for getting the game, and I was watching a video of the DLC mission Overlord. I saw the end. Damn, Bioware can tell an awesome and sad story. Can't wait for it.

Who else is trying to do every major plotline? I figure Paragon both games, Renegade both, Paragon first game then Renegade second (and vice versa).

Also, I want to try for relationships too. So perhaps one quick game with each relationship, and then one where I remain faithful in the second game, one where I cheat on the person from the first game, and one where I remain a bachelor.

I think that basically covers everything. Add anything else?

I'm still working my way through my Paragon Male 100% completion game of ME2. Doing the relationship with Jack since I hadn't yet in any other ME2 playthrough.

Next if I face another situation where I feel motivated to do ME1 again I'll do a female renegade playthrough and romance Garrus.

I have no desire to do more past that, but I've got some various other saves I can load that won't have such cleanly planned paths like the 100% para/rene playthroughs.

Playing through ME1 right now, and I truly feel it's antagonizing. I just don't like it as much as ME2, truthfully. I had this same effect with Fable, where I try to play through the first one, but I just can't. I find myself bored and it just doesn't seem as good.

Okay, some of you might disagree with this idea, but I'm just throwing this out there. What do you guys think of the possibility of 3-4 player co-op in Me3? They're already experimenting with such mechanics with the upcoming Kotor MMO, with the dialouge and new gunplay systems I bet it would be very satisfying experience . It can probably be set back in the First Contact War with the Turians or maybe something that supports Sheppard’s storyline against the Reapers in Me3. (Nothing too in depth though, just to fill in some back story) I know this sounds ridiculous, but again I just think it would be something cool to add to an already great franchise.

No no no no no. Mass Effect is a single player game. If they want to do something like that in a spin off after the Shepard trilogy then I'm all for it, but it definitely should not be in ME3.

Also, some good news for those of you who can't seem to make it through ME1 anymore. The PS3 version of ME2 is shipping with an interactive comic book that will allow them to make certain decisions from the first game without having played it. Now, I'm not 100% positive about this, but I'm fairly certain Bioware has said that this will also be coming to 360 and PC through the Cerberus Network on the same day.

Mass Effect interactive comic book hitting PS3, Xbox 360 and PC - National Console Gaming | Examiner.com

    You're right Shataki.

Still, the comic is only 6 decisions like who lived/died and who you romanced. Hard to believe that 6 decisions are enough to replace a full ME1 playthrough. I like seeing people like Conrad show up again, and that's almost certainly excluded from the 6 decisions.

    I'm assuming the decisions are:
    1: Rachni freed or killed.
2: Kaidan, Ashley, or Liara romanced.
    3: Kaidan or Ashley living/dead.
    4: Wrex alive or dead.
    5: Council alive or dead.
6: Udina or Anderson on council.
Off the top of my head, I can't think of any other major plot points likely to be important in ME3 that would need to be imported from ME1. And I only threw that first one in there because based on the various decisions available in ME2, I'm assuming ME3 is a Dragon Age style "gather allies to help fight the Big Bad" storyline. Based on certain ME1 and ME2 decisions, different allies might be available to help in ME3, and the allies might come with different attributes.

Ooh, just thought of this one. A game in ME2 where a bare minimum number of characters (2, right?) survive the final level. I figure they would either be Garrus/Tali or Miranda/Jacob.

It's either 2 or 1 are the minimum, not exactly sure. But why would you want to do that? When you load it into ME3, you essentially have the same outcome depending on what you decide to do with the base, but when it comes down to it there will just be less content in that ME3 playthrough. Even though it takes away from the idea of a suicide mission, I almost always have my entire crew survive because I want to have the complete experience in ME3.

Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying machines have begun their destruction of the human race. Mass Effect 2 is a superb adventure, a deep gameplay experience, action packed and stuffed full of amazing vistas. Mass Effect 2 turned out to be the highest rated videogame of 2010 on the Xbox 360, the PC, and one of the highest rated pieces of entertainment.

I feel so smart for those predictions. The only one that was even questionable was the first one, but hey, I got it right and it makes me feel teh smert.

Anyone have a PS3 and going to try a run through using the Genesis comic?

While the inventory system of ME1 was atrocious I actually liked the idea of upgradable weapons. As an RPG inventory is an important concept and I felt like being forced to use the same weapons throughout the game made it a little less fun. There was story behind each weapon and the company that made them in the first game. So while yes there was maybe too much variety by the end of the game there were at least 3 or 4 respectable weapon choices for each weapon. By the end of ME2 you only had 1 weapon to pick from because it was the best one, only the power weapon section had usable variety.

I doubt that system will return though as few people seemed to enjoy it. The combat system of ME2 was great and I hope that returns with little tweaks to the cover system of course.

As far as story goes both games were great at it but I like ME1 a little more. The illusive man/suicide mission concept was interesting but in practice it got a little repetitive. Find team mate, do loyalty mission, do required story mission, repeat. The first game, even though you didn't need to do any loyalty missions, made you care about the characters a lot more. You respected Wrex, you cared for Liara or Ashely, and you wanted to help Tali, and you thought Garrus was kickass. The character roster, now pretty big in ME2 has some interesting characters but you never have any confrontations with them on the level of deciding to kill Wrex or helping him.
I would like to see the Salarian from ME2, Wrex, Tali, Liara, Legion, Garrus, and Konami the thief return as the squad for ME3 as they have the most flushed out story and were the most interesting characters. Although if you played the latest DLC for ME2 having Liara in your squad is unlikely ¬.¬
