    Orion

    Creator: THE Fuglystick

    Track Name: Orion

    Map Name: Tempest

    Number of Checkpoints: 11

    Average Lap Time: 1:55

Best Recorded Lap Time: 1:50 - THE Fuglystick

    Description:
Orion is my first attempt at making a rollercoaster. I also decided to put it on tempest, just to see if it could be done. I don't think it came out too bad, since I was able to fit a lot of twisting and turning track and a few pretty fun jumps into this near two minute long rollercoaster. The tempest scenery helps to set this apart from most other rollercoasters, and I threw in some extra aesthetic touches here and there to improve on that. If you guys have any feedback/constructive criticism please let me know so I can improve on any future rollercoasters I plan, what with this being my first one and all.

    What inspired your creation?
I had made at least one track of most of the popular types on halotracks with the exception of rollercoaster's, hc, stunt, and supercross. For my next few projects I've decided to work on "completing the set," so to speak.

How long did it take you to create this track?
It took me probably 8 hours to complete the track, with another 4 or 5 for decorating and testing/tweaking, making it about a 13 hours total, give or take.

What aspect of the track took you the longest to create?
Probably the jumps took me the most time to tweak and test. I wound up removing the lips to the jumps I had since they work more reliably without them. A big thanks goes to Das TeknoViking and Das TeknoPirate for helping me test the jumps and track out.

First off, who wrote that song?! It's amazing... and it completely worked for your race creation. I watched the video, love it. Read the description, love it. And I'm downloading it now. Kudos to your effort at putting it together and posting it. Thanks.

The song is "forgive me" by Infected Mushroom. They're a really sweet electronica group. I'd recommend you check out "heavyweight" by them as well, its my personal favorite.

Wow, this is not a bad track at all. I would like to have some FX on it, maybe Purple to complete the "Orion" effect (great song btw). Overall, its great how all that coaster fits in this tight area AND its neat. Thats some good forging there. 5/5

I considered purple, but at that point certain sections of the map would have been too dark for racer's to navigate effectively so I decided against it in the end. I'm glad you like it.

Looks like a well forged race track. The only problem I see is that the track isn't wide enough. Most of the track is a little over 1 mongoose in width. Therefore whoever gets first at the start will probably end up winning if they don't fall off or crash. Falling off or crashing could of course happen but as a "race" track it should still have passing room.

Well this is a rollercoaster style track, its meant to be for casual or single racing primarily, and not for competitive use. my other maps are all doublewide, but this style of track is by and large supposed to be single wide to give it that rollercoaster feel as you are driving.

I'm glad you didn't put the FX in. In my opinion i really don't like race maps with FX i usually don't even click on them if they have FX. And if i do i usually just delete the FX because it looks so much better and is more enjoyable without them.

Actually, I have two fx on the map right now, juicy and next gen. I chose those two mostly to give the shaded side tunnel that pitch black feel to it. Purple would have made the rest of the map too dark in my opinion, however.

I just got through playing the track and i realized that they were there. haha. But i will say you managed to pull FX off quite nicely which to me is very rare. i applaud you.

Excellent roller coaster! It was challenging and lengthy but neither to an excessive degree. You added enough variety of track pieces and a healthy amount of aesthetic flare. I found that one glass wall turn to be very cool and very difficult, the hardest part in my opinion. You make me want to attempt a race track on tempest now :)

This may not be the most neatly made racetrack/rollercoaster, but you definitely made it work. Just the fact that you could fit a track that big on Tempest is pretty awesomesauce. I'll give it a download and give my full opinion on it. And, once again good job.

(Edit) Well, after playing the map, me and my friends thought that the map was really well put together and that it was really fun to play on and I hope that you can keep on building awesome tracks on Tempest.
