Halo: Reach Forge Contest What's the deal? We're looking for a super awesome Forged map. There will be categories for different gametypes. The judges are going to be looking for creativity, originality, playability and balance. This should be a well-rounded map that will be fun to play often. What do I get? I'm currently a little short on money so all I can really offer is bragging rights and advertisement. I will be looking for donations if anyone would like to donate anything. Are there rules? There are of course guidelines and rules that must be met which will be explained below. Failure to follow these rules and guidelines will result in your disqualification from the contest. We reserve the right to refuse any entry to this contest if we deem it as not adhering to the guidelines listed below. Rules •One submission per user: Make it count. •The map must be original: You cannot have built up from a previously made map by another individual. •Modified versions of your own works are allowed. •You must not be able to get out of the map during an actual game using standard methods: The use of soft killzones is suggested. •All vehicles are allowed. •Should have cover available on different parts of the map. That way we can fight anywhere. What are the categories? Maps that are made exclusively for a certain gametype will go into that category. Maps that can play multiple gametypes will go into the multiple gametypes category. If the Forge map is made with something other than Forge (Lego, cardboard, ect.) hen it goes into it's own category. Categories •Invasion •Infection •Race •King of the Hill •Slayer •Stockpile •Headhunter •Capture the Flag •Assault •Custom •Not made ingame Tips for making an awesome map •Originality is big, we want to see something really cool and exciting to play. We don't want to see something that looks like Foundry or Tombstone. •Since we're looking for originality, stick to Forge World or Tempest for your canvas. Using any of the other map canvas's is going to look too similar to playing in those environment. Forge World allows for much more freedom in creativity. •Be creative, but don't over-do it. Sometimes, simplicity is key. Making an over-complicated map that becomes difficult to navigate isn't going to be fun to play. •Make sure you thoroughly test your spawn points, we don't want to have both teams spawn facing each other, etc. •Study other maps, look at their spawn points, weapon placements, overall design. Find things that you can adapt to your design, but remember - be original! •Don't rush it! We're going to give you lots of time to work on your map. •Test your map with your friends! We don't want to get a map that has never been "broken in". Work out all the kinks before you submit a map. When and where to submit Submissions start now. You will email your entry to koalaexpert@comcast.net. Make sure that you have uploaded your map to fileshare first. This sounds pretty interesting, would provide something else besides bragging rights. Like some advertisement of the winning map?
Why may I ask have you place those limitations on certain weapons? Because to be quite frank, 2 shotguns on a map doesn't break it, and if the map is large enough two rockets doesn't either. I would consider entering if you dropped these limitations.
