This, in the near future, will be my first ever MLG map. It is intended for 2 v 2 and is a remake of sandboxed in from halo 3. It worked fine 4 v 4 on there so I made it a little bigger and for some reason only works 2 v 2 on here. All that aside I would like to introduce you to Boxed In. It is a completely symetrical map that works with KOTH, Oddball, CTF, Slayer and infection so far. This is the blue side, exactly the same as the red side besides the colours Behind the spawns there is a shield door staircase with a sniper and sniper hole in the back. A little further forward and to the sides is some cover. The flag objective spawns infront of the sniper hole and the bomb spawns below, with the capture plate behind the hole. The rest of the top floor is completely open as in objective it is the quickest way to a capture point and for that reason I didnt think it needed any cover. Below all the sides of the map are tunnels with glass sections on the corners showing grass through. In the mid points of these tunnels and side elevations there is a glass area with rocks and grass showing and two plasma grenades at the back. Below this inbetween the breaks of tunnels are where 2 frag grenades are placed In the mid point of the map there is this bridge with rockets in the middle and any neutral objectives appearing below. There are some framerate problems with this map so the walls are probably going to change. The map may also move as it is near the waterfall and i'm starting to find the falling water annoying. Another problem I had before were to do with lights at the back of each base, after I removed those the framerate issues dropped dramaticly but it's still there at times. There is also an easter egg being built into the map for those who like that sort of thing. I kind of like the idea of the map being a maze which is a great contribution for infection maps and would make capture the flag more of a strategy game (which is pretty cool). However I was wondering about the bottom image. Are those windows or force fields?
So! Much! Grey! Oh, god! No, seriously. I wouldn't be able to perceive depth or anything when playing that, it all looks like an amorphous metal blob. Not your fault, but still... D:
Haha yeah it is a little grey I suppose. I have done all I can do with changing the colours of the pieces. It is a little easier to tell where you are in map. If you want to see it for yourself send me a fr and I will show you how it is atm
The glass is integrated very nicely into the surface of the blocks. Kind of reminds me of some features I saw back in Halo CE.
Hey, I played this yesterday. It was fun, though the only thing I'd suggest is more cover on the top side. I found it really frustrating that a guy could snipe me from across the map D:<
That probably because its actually one of the buildings tipped on its side, rather than blocks I realised this when building the map but being as its an objective game for 2 v 2 I wanted it to be about teamwork. If there was too much cover on the top I feared that it would be too easy to dominate from there so I left cover on the top at the bases. This way a team can dominate when defending, not attacking or capturing an objective
