By Reigning Chaos What started as the second in a series of fruit named maps, has now become the first one released to forgehub as of now. A fusion of Warlock and Foundation, I present, Acai. Now, nobody likes text walls apparently... not quite sure why, it does let you know more about the map... anywho, Acai is map primarily for FFA gametypes, but supports up to 4v4 which can become a bit hectic on certain gametypes. In my opinion to have optimal gameplay, play with 6 people. Now... some pictures to quench your thirst for pretty stuff. A general Layout of the map: Weapons: • Sword - 1 • Needler -2 • Plasma Rifle - 2 • Plasma Pistol - 2 • Plasma Grenade - 4 • DMR -2 Other than that, I pretty much have nothing to say, the layout is fairly simple, weapons are easy to find, and it supports most gametypes. Both tele's are two-ways and are on the same channel, and yeah... Thank you for reading (or looking at) this thread, I hope you Dl and comment, not the reverse. Also, if anyone is capable of making a video for me, I would be grateful and would absolutely include you in credits if you contacted me to make one. Testers/Credits: • Vorpal Saint • Psychoduck • IX Dr Doom XI • x 7Mason7 x • x0TheUnseen • Jance Freedom • L3G3CY • Indie Anthias • If I forgot you, PM me and I will ammend the list. (I did forget some people) EDIT: added a download link to a custom gametype that works well with the map. Also updated download link to map with new version, hopefully no revisions will be required further on.
Great work on this map, nicely presented, I like the map stages , and the water feature with the sword, and some nicely placed lights. Looks like its going to play really well, and is nicely structured, going to check it out now.
There's something about this map that feels epic. I love the water feature in the middle with the stairs and everything. I'm not sure about the teleporters on such a small map. If you enter one your bound to immediately enter combat on the other end... Anyway, the design looks professional and the purple light works perfectly to add a certain feeling. One thing, consider adding a metal floor in the water in the middle. The sand make it feel like there's an outside map.
When I saw the preview it looked pretty sweet. However, my internet is running extremely slow and The edited pictures wont load, so I can't exactly see the map. Anyways, I will dl and comment back with feedback if I can get a game.
Very cool, it looks like you managed to keep orientation easy for the player. Hard to do on a symmetrical map. Definitely gonna dl. What are the other maps you've made?
Hank102938, I actually very well intended to have a sand floor in the pool. If a rock was sticking out of metal floor that wouldn't look right. Nacho Sanchez, what map are you talking about? My maps all so far have been symmetrical...
Such a neat looking map. I was surprised at how small it was. Their are not enough small maps around. This one is a keeper. Nice work.
The sand floor breaks up the monotony of the grey forge pieces. After playing so many forge maps, I find it especially nice if someone goes out of their way to use the environment to add flavor to a map. I agree with HotTopFade. There aren't enough small arena-style maps. Well done.
Oh hey, I remember playing that SWAT/Headhunter gametype on this map. Was pretty fun tbh. I haven't tried anything else on it. But I can see this map being pretty fun with a small group. Good work.
I realy like the use of large peices that You put in this map. I like that You can only see small parts of the large peices, for colums and wall decoration. very nice work I cant wait to get some friends together and play on it!
Sorry I'm dumb, haha just realized i confused radial symmetry with asymmetry my bad. I meant. Forget that stupid comment, I swear I'm not an idiot
I definitely enjoyed testing this map. It plays quite well and also has a very cool look. I can't wait to see what you've changed since I last played this.
Thank you all, I hope you all like the map. I've been working on my next fruit maps, Pommegranate and Blueberry. If you happen to be interested I can show them to you. But, on a closer note, is there any issues that have been come across pertaining to spawns or flow?
OP and download link have both been updated with a version that should be more hospitable to multi team games.
A friend brought to my attention that the entire map is purple. It would make communication easier if you broke it down in to 4 colors. A color per quarter. Just a suggestion. Fun map!
I'm sorry, thats just something I won't do, not can't. Its quite simple to do that, I just won't due to the fact that it will break my reasoning for naming it Acai, and breaking its aesthetics. Sorry, in FFA dissorientation won't really matter, and in objective games a clear direction is given. The only use for color coding to teams is in a large symmetrical map, which this clearly is not.
I'm sorry to say, but having played an objective 2v2 tonight, the fact that there's no way to orient yourself on spawn is a major issue. I understand the concept behind your intention, but it just doesn't work as is.
