    Hi guys!

While messing around in forge, I noticed one of the pieces
has a strange property. The piece in question is 'strut' under
    the decorative category.

The boundries of the piece do not completely match what
can actually be seen. By this I mean, one of the sharp edged
'empty' spaces is not actually empty. Its partly filled with
what seems like a softly rounded shape.

The space can be shot through, grenades tossed through but
    you cannot walk through it.

I checked all the other pieces and could not find one that had
    similar properties.

Anyway, this map has a few ideas on how this could be used
in an aesthetic fashion. If you have any other ideas please
    let me know.

    Here's whats on the map:

    1) a 2 level platform, the top one being slightly smaller. Normally
you would have to jump to get to the top and vehicles, of course,
would not be able to drive up there. This one you are able to walk
and drive up to the top.

    2) a short pathway to run a mongoose through. It appears as if
you are driving on thin air. I have intentionally made it bumpy as well.

    3) a working stairway. There are many ways to do a stairway in
forge, this just adds another possibility. The mongoose will drive
    up this too.

The idea with these is to maintain a certain look for a map without
    losing some functionality.

For example, in my map titled 'the reaper', the main stage is raised
up. Normally players would have to jump to get on it. I have placed
some 'invisible' ramps on the front so players can just run up it.

In addition, the bleacher style seats are done the same so instead
of jumping to the top, a player can just run up there.

Hope some of you find this useful.

***note: none of the examples are 100% lined up. The stairs for
example are just a bit choppy. That could be fixed by an expert
    forger.

    :)

It's not the ramps which are hidden, it's their physical boundaries.

This theory could be used in a puzzle game.

Ah, their physical shape is hidden, but not themselves. I just love the theory behind this. I mean hiding the object's shape without hiding the object? Unbelievable!

A nice find. I can see a few minigame or puzzle maps using this, it all depends on the size of this invisible boundary really.

I have two questions. The first is: so how exactly does the invisible barrier work and the second: how can it be used for maps?

Thanks for the great idea! Used this in one of my maps, and everyone thought it was clever. I used it as a set of stairs, has the apperence of stairs but did not have to jump on each step. Thanks again
