Last night in the shower I came up with an awesome idea for a gmetype. I'm not sure if it would work though.

Basically its reverse invasion. I call it "lockdown"

The map I have planned for it is a base with 3 entrances. A main one, A side one, and a third one (Main vent? Observation deck? idk)

The attackers are attacking from a ravine (I'm think this'll work best in the back of the canyon or something) while the defenders have a base. The attackers have to foil the defenders' attempts to block them out.

The first phase consists of delivering a bomb to a rock face causing a landslide blocking the road to the main entrance.

The Attackers however have a cave that grants them access to the side entrance conviently. The defenders have to go out and repair a power line (territory objective) so that the base will have enough power to close the side door.

Now they must use a back entrance. The defenders must go on a risky mission to steal a core from a factory on the edge of the attackers territory. This core is the emergency lockdown core which will encase the base in a steel dome or something like that.

What do you all think? Will it work as reverse invasion?

So there's one central "defender" base, and various phases make it harder and harder for the "attackers" to get in? I'm sure that it could work. I'm guessing that the motivation for the attackers is just to stop them from getting as far as possible? And would the attackers be spawning at that factory you mentioned? Anyway, it sound like it would work if made properly.

And I would suggest making the spartans the ones closing off the base, the backstory would work easier that way.

But what if the spartans were attacking the elites? That would make it better cause the spartans launch many counterassaults. rite?

So basically if this were classified as normal invasion the attackers spawn next to the territories and the defenders spawn where the attackers would normally spawn?

When you put it that way it sounds crappy. Its the premise that makes it cool.

It seems like the capture points would be halfway in between the two teams, at least to make it the most balanced. But since Reach is a game designed around humans being forced into a defensive position, I'm thinking the humans would be stopping the elites.

so defenders to the game would be attacking in the story and attackers would be defenders?

edit: this might actually work and be balanced
I'll make a diagram to explain how I see it,
hopefully I'll remember and then you can tell me if I nderstand, k?

That's basically all there is. Defenders are actually preventing the attackers from....defending they're base. They switch roles. After a while of thinking its the enviroment or map that makes it unique.
