Well, my prior maps - Tartarus and Residue - were geared towards close quarters slayer matches.

I felt like it was time for a change. I set out to craft maps geared exclusively towards objective games for 8 players or more. My first attempt in this regard is New Everest.

As you can decipher, New Everest is set on and about the tallest portion of Breakpoint: the ridge in the center. The layout emphasizes asymmetric games like One Flag or One Bomb.

The attacking team would spawn here around the helipad, tasked with scaling this ridge on New Everest. A number of routes are available; even on the ridge itself, there's a variety of barricades and doors (the latter being used as impromptu bridges) to facilitate movement along what, in the default map, is a very narrow strip.

Needless to say, the map will emphasize long-range weaponry; however, there's still opportunities to get up close and personal. The defending team spawns at the peak of the ridge.

You'll notice a number of receiver and sender nodes sprinkled at spots along the map; they're to offer variety in terms of movement; the defending team has a one-way teleporter that sends them into the red building on the left of the ridge, whilst the attacking team has a one-way teleporter sending them into the yellow building to the right of the ridge. Both buildings offer power weapons (Concussion rifle and grenade launcher, respectively) before sending them to the receiver nodes seen near the middle of the screen.

Another avenue for movement; this two-way teleporter leads to the tunnel underneath the ridge. The attacking team can use the man cannon to get up top near the base, whilst the defenders can drop down and attempt to pin down the attackers.

Safe zones will be set up to keep all action along the ridge, so don't think you can try and cheat your way out of scaling New Everest. Jetpacks will also be a no-no; they defeat the purpose of the map.

Testing will begin soon, followed by a release within the next few weeks.

Looks nice. However i would suggest different weapons. Use Spikers, Needlers, Plasma Turrets, Focus Rifles, Splasers and no DMR's(maybe one), Needle Rifles, Snipers or Rocket Launchers. If done right, it will get more of a Halo 3 feeling like the map does.
