    Excavation v1.6

Hello there, and welcome to Excavation v1.6, a map designed for Invasion, created by me (IAwkwardSilence) and SlipStream Zone. In this game, the Spartans’ ultimate goal is to Capture a Covenant Data Core from a newly discovered Forerunner structure. First, however, they must Assault the rock face blocking the cave and capture the Territories powering the gate before their final attack on the Pyramid protecting the Core. This will all become much clearer momentarily, though. For now, let’s begin with Phase One.

Note: I apologize for the amount of pictures in this post. I took a whole crapload of them because I’m hoping to give you all a really good sense of the map before you play it. It might be a bit overkill, though. Just sayin’.

    Phase One

    [P1 Overview]

Phase One is an Assault game, with the Elites spawning up on the cliffs, and the Spartans spawning down at the beach behind their base. To win, the Spartans must transport the bomb from their base all the way to the rock face underneath the Elites’ defenses. The ordnance available to each side is as follows:

    Elites:
    • 2x Needle Rifle
    • 1x Shade Turret

    Spartans:
    • 2x Assault Rifle
    • 1x DMR
    • 2x Machine Gun Turret
    • 2x Mongoose
    • 1x Default Warthog

Note about Ring Jumps: Since the Elites frequently spawn high above the Spartans, these teleporter frames scattered throughout the map signify a safe drop down so long as you jump through them, providing a fast and easy route to the battlefield.

    Phase Two

    [P2 Overview]

Phase Two is a Territories game, with the Elites spawning up above on either side the Gate, and the Spartans spawning down in the Cave. To win, the Spartans must capture either Territory for 20 seconds to deactivate the shields and proceed to Phase Three. The ordnance available to each side is as follows:

    Elites:
    • 1x Needle Rifle
    • 1x Concussion Rifle

    Spartans:
    • 1x Shotgun
    • 1x Grenade Launcher
    • 1x Mongoose
    • 1x Rocket Warthog

    Phase Three

    [P3 Overview]

Phase Three is a CTF game, with the Elites spawning either down in the appropriately-named Low Base or up in the appropriately-named High Base, and the Spartans spawning up above the Gate that they recently captured. To win, the Spartans invade the Pyramid, and steal the Core, bringing all the way over to the platform above the bay to capture it. The ordnance available to each side is as follows:

    Elites:
    • 1x Needle Rifle
    • 1x Focus Rifle
    • 1x Plasma Launcher
    • 1x Ghost
    • 1x Wraith
    • 1x Banshee
    Spartans:
    • 2x DMR
    • 1x Rocket Launcher
    • 1x Sniper Rifle
    • 1x Scorpion

Note about Backfield Spawns: The reader should note that while the Scorpion spawns all the way back at the Spartan’s First Base during Phase Three, a Spartan may choose to spawn at that base at any time, even during the Second and Third Phases. Pro Tip: Spawn back at the base during Phase Two to bring another Warthog into the fight if you are struggling!

    Game Over

And that’s the game! I hope that this post has convinced you to at least give my map (and gametype) a try, and I also hope that it’s fun when you play it. Again, sorry for the absolute deluge of pictures, but as I said, I really want everything to be as clear as possible here to minimize confusion when you play it. Thanks for reading, and don’t forget to download the gametype as well! The map won’t function without it! ~ IAwkwardSilence

You probably dont remember me, but I played this with you. I was the one who ran the core the wrong way lol. This map is truly fun to play invasion on. Adding the warthog in made phase 1 a whole lot better. The only thing you should change is to replace the shade turret with a PP or concussion. Shade turrets are worthless at long distances. Or maybe you can put 1 on each side of the beach. That would keep the warthog from raping too much.

wow. the first phase i thought looked kinda if-fy, but the rest looks amazing. I love the ring jumps too. the only thing i have to say is that spartans that survive round 1 will have a bit of a walk to get to the battle. Other than that, looks great!

Eh. I've actually messed with all of those ideas, and I found that the Shade works best where it is. It can be devastating when used properly; its ideal range is in line with the front of the building in the water. Also, there's already a Concussion Rifle in the second phase, and I didn't want it to be even easier to kill the warthog than it already is. Elites also spawn with Plasma Pistols, so there wouldn't be much of a point of placing another one. So yeah, I think I'll keep that where it is, but thank you for playing the map. ...Even if you ran the core into a wall. Fail, lol.

Thanks, I hope you get the chance to try it. (I know it can be pretty hard to get a lobby going with enough people to play Invasion.) As for the walk, it's not a big deal, as their spawn is quite close, and they get a warthog and a mongoose for transportation. (That was an issue on an older version of the map though, which is why I moved the spawns forward for the release version.)
