(The current version is V.3.0. The version is noted in the description.)

    "Blood leaves a nasty stain."

For some reason, 'nasty' is censored on Xbox Live, so we have 'messy' in the description instead of 'nasty'. Alas.

Following the relative success of Tartarus, I wanted to see what the new Noble Map Pack could offer. Anchor 9's limited palette was disappointing, but Breakpoint, albeit more limited than Forge World or Tempest, has enough to get something going if you're creative. Given the materials and the setting (the tunnel going under the ridge in Breakpoint), the whole map has a grungy feel to it; hence the name "Residue". Both tunnel entrances are blocked off by soft kill zones and one-way shield doors, so no one can escape.

Although the layout seems symmetrical, there are minute differences since the tunnel itself is not symmetric (look at the notches in the wall), but the differences are mostly cosmetic.

This map is much smaller than my previous endeavor; built for 2 to 4 players, it's ideal for 1 vs. 1 duels. However, if you have a hankering for chaos, it's still good enough to use for 4 FFA or 2 vs. 2 matches.

However, if you want tense 1 vs. 1 matches or frantic 2 vs. 2 battles, give Residue a try.

This is somewhat reminiscent of Longest from Halo:CE. Kudos - To my knowledge this is the first Noble Map that's not built around the stupid laser in Tempest.

lol What's wrong with the laser? It's a cool laser even if it's gonna be overused.
Still, I have seen a few maps made that are not built around the laser.

I like the look of this map. It ought to play well too. Breakpoint has more potential than people seem to know. I kinda doubt that this map will work well with more than 4 people (like you said) but I'm probably gonna try that many or more. :p

Nice to see something that's not in Forge or tempest though. I love their palette, but it's nice to see something new.

I've downloaded it and I'll let you know if I get a decent match on it.

If you want more than four people, you'll need to add more initial spawn points, as there's only four neutral spawns (for FFA) and two Red/Blue spawns (for 2 vs. 2 games).

After some thinking, I'll probably add functionality with other gametypes, just to see how they handle.

Yeah, after looking at it I was gonna say something about more spawns... And weapons.

First, it could use more spawns. More spawns never hurt anyone. :) I think the number of respawns might even be too few for 2 v 2.

I also think that there might be more than enough power weapons. I haven't played it but three right in the middle might be too much. (not sure, just saying)

I really didn't like the Jersey barrier being set to 1 second respawn. When you chip a piece off it instantly respawns and then there's a chip on the ground but none missing from the barrier. Kinda funny but out of place.

I've played it with multiple people, and the map's engineered in such a way that it's relatively easy to get away from someone with any of the power weapons. The grenade launcher doesn't have that much ammo, and the hammer/shotgun counter each other. That, and if you get up onto the platforms, the only power weapon that has a decent chance of getting you is the grenade launcher. At the very least, I've had no complaints about the power weapons thus far, but that's only been in 1-on-1 and 2-on-2 slayer matches, so we'll see.

Regarding the Jersey barrier, I tried setting it to phased so that it would stay there permanently, but it got destroyed; I want the barriers to STAY there. So the debris being present by an untouched barrier is just gonna have to remain there (consider the debris some residue from an older barrier that had to be removed. ;p ).

I'll add some more respawn points.

Also, I've changed some of the features of the map, so the pictures and video currently posted are null and void. Expect an update by tomorrow of the map with new gametypes added.

I played this map 1v1 and really liked the cat-mouse nature of the slim tunnels. You would think the top level is vastly superior, but you usually have a quick way up there in the event someone tries to camp.

Job well done. I really liked it.

This map is pretty awesome for 1v1, I had the pleasure of playing a game and the pace of the game was really nice. It was especially fun when we started throwing in other armor abilities such as the Decoy and stealth :). Recommended!

Huh......you have a talent for creating maps in a close-quarters environment like this, this map looks really cool, kind of reminds me of foundry in a way. Very original idea.
