Hey, ForgeHub, I recently started credit farming with the Target Locator on ONI: Sword Base, but I just now figured out that if I rubber-band my controller I will simply walk into my own airstrike over and over while still getting all the multikills and the killing spree. I know that Locator-Boosting alone is not bannable, but is this different enough to get me reset?
No. As long as you're not hacking or going against the system connection-wise then you're fine. What you're doing is completely legit.
You will not get banned. If you want a source, I could give you a link, but it would take me some time to find it, and I'd rather not. But, if I can if you want me to prove it to you.
I'm assuming your source would be one of Ferrex's many helpful Q&As? I've read them all, and to me this is sort of a grey area which is why I'm asking.
Its mixed feelings on this. Technically, this is creating a bot; since you are not playing, its ban-able. But there is no way to track if you are using a "rubber band"
If you're caught AFC'ing, then you can get banned. It doesn't take much for Bungie to figure out a person is moving in just one direction an entire game. I read that they set up some new detection parameters on their automated banning system and I think they're going after the players that are doing exactly what you described.
so what if i just purposely go only forward? without rubberband. would they ban me then? anyways, I didnt realize you could farm with the target designator... it only has 2 two shots doesnt it?
Are you trollin', or are you serious.... If you're not trolling: YouTube - Halo Reach | FASTEST Way To Get cR | ONI Commen. Boost! Also: Source: Bungie.net : Bungie Weekly Update: 10/01/10 : 10/1/2010 3:43 PM PDT I bolded the parts that directly answer your question.
what if you were able to get it so that you hit the checkpoint just after you targeted your enemies. If you where inside the target zone as you did so, as you got the checkpoint, you would continually die and restart in the same place. so you wouldn't be manipulating your controller. hell, you wouldn't be moving at all.
Yeah smart idea though, Rubber band walking forward to kill yourself that would reset after kills and rubber band to shoot automatically every reset you could go on forever not touching the controller. Boosting ONI is not bannable but AFK/rubberbanding might be :S, I dunno I've heard people on Bungie.net forums getting banned for boosting oONI sword base overnight (he claims he was doing it legit but he might of been doing your thing) So i would take the safe root and just not do it otherwise ask a bungie employee or forum moderator that way if they say you can and you get banned you have backup.
The first part of that is what I do. It's intolerably boring unless you can time the checkpoint after you fire. But the problem is you can only get the checkpoint if you're back under the roof of that shield-wall thing. Thus the walking forwards.
Haha, in that case, take the safe route and don't use a rubber band. Just hold upish on the pad while you watch a movie or something. Although, if you were offline, this might not be an issue at all.
Well, its impossible. After about ten tries with the exact same input from the player it will restart the level to make certain that it isn't a bot, at least in every time i have tried to do this. So, you essentially have to do it yourself.
lol well I put the rubber band on my dad's back-massage thing that vibrates (yes, actually a massager you perv) so my walking is randomized left or right slightly each time. It uses a lot of power however, I would assume.
To get my precious Mark V helmet! If I never get a credit past Lieutenant Colonel I won't care, I just want my precious helmet from Halo 3 back over my shoulders again. Also: that was your first post ever? in my thread? cool!
I really dislike it when people get angry at other people for playing a game the way they want to play it. If you want to credit farm, then go ahead. I've certainly done it before. How else was I gonna get Onyx in splash damage? Play the campaign a thousand times? Yeah that sounds fun. It's not like it matters. Rank is a two fold system. There is the actual rank itself, yes. But behind it is the skill. Who cares if a Lt. Colonel can't get a headshot to save his life? As far as I'm concerned, that's funnier than when it's a low ranking player!
