I do not own nor have I ever played Red Dead Redemption. However the Undead Nightmare DLC looks pretty promising. It got a 10/10 from IGN and I thought I might ask for it for Christmas. I heard it cost 800 MS points if your download it from XBL, but I saw it at Target today for 29.99 which makes think you don't need the original if you buy the disc version. Anybody have a for sure answer?
You always need the original game to play DLC, but yeah the disk you saw at Target should work fine to play the game. That said, I think RDR is worth a rental or a used purchase so you can get it cheap. The game is massively overhyped and extraordinarily repetitive, but it has a handful of really fantastic moments scattered through it that are worth playing. Buying a used RDR should cost ~35 online based on a cursory glance at amazon, and 800 msp is only $10. Don't spend $29.99 to get just the DLC when you could get the whole package for $45. I wouldn't buy a brand new RDR though, that's a waste of money.
Umm... why wouldnt you need the disk? I' sorry but thats just a weird question to ask, of course you need it. I havent heard anything about wether or not RDR is good or not Tbh, so I cant help on that part.
I believe you misunderstood me, or maybe I misunderstood you. I'm asking if the Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare disc I saw at Target (with an increased price of 20 dollars compared to the XBL marketplace) is an installation disc, meaning I'd need the original game, or is a playable disc like Halo 3: ODST?
Halo 3 ODST was an expansion, but it wasn't technically an expansion. Meaning it was an expansion to the story, but they didn't design it as an expansion that needed Halo 3 to run. You will need RDR to use this DLC.
Friend, I can confirm that YOU DO NOT NEED the Red Dead Redemption disc to play the Undead Nightmare disc sold at stores. However, if you got the Undead Nightmare Collection from the marketplace, you would need it. Also, regardless of anyone elses opinion, I love Red Dead Redemption. Its a fantastic game with fantastic multiplayer.
