Source I, for one, hope that a "X-Station" comes true. It'll get rid of these damned Fan-Wars against Xbox/PS3 and we won't have "Console Specific" games (other than the Wii). I have a few friends on PS3, and a bunch of em on Xbox, but I can't play with them all. If this "Super-Console" comes true, that'll also solve that problem. Discuss?
That's just like putting a blu-ray player into an xbox and giving it all of the PS3s exclusives. Or giving the PS3 the xbox's multiplayer community and its exclusives.
It'll happen eventually. Just like movies are on Blu Ray/DVD exclusively now, gaming will move to a single format system with many different companies providing the hardware.
That would be cool to see... But by that time I will have probably overgrown my addiction to games and would still be clinging to my unopened NES console...
If this does happen what will happen to characters like Marcus Phenix and Solid Snake? Will they possibly make games that have both Sony and Microsoft characters? Will there be a new company that will make a console? Perhaps in the 8th generation they will have a Google console . This I guess. It wont be that great, probably just the Xbox getting Blu Ray, better graphics and more powerful processor. This could all be done by Microsoft on their own, but I guess this way they can charge people more money. I can see it now: "PlayBox live price has dropped! Price now $300 a month"
XBox for the very near future will not have a Blu Ray player. Blu Ray is a copyright of Sony (Yes, the Sony who makes the Playstation). Until Microsoft and Sony can settle a deal so that they can use the Blu Ray players in their consoles, We will be stuck to DVD.
Would be cool Xbox/Ps3/Wii(with both there motion sensors pretty much) Would be some ultimate console But I doubt it because everything needs competition if Xbox and Ps3 join up some new console will be made or the Wii would improve Massively. Then "console wars" and split friends would still happen.
Hopefully not. If MS and Sony came together (though I doubt it) then they would pretty much have a monopoly on the competitive gaming industry and prices would undoubtedly rise as there would be no competition.
Well, It would be awesome. But it is like Mac and PC. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are to stubborn to become friends as Sony and Microsoft. We have Sonic in are xbox as well as Microsoft Word in our Macbooks. Nintendo calls them self "unique" and I highly doubt that they will be in the "X-Station" either. Nintendo are stubborn lone wolfs that do what there heart brings them to. So it is hard to guess if Microsoft and Sony are doing this.
It can't happen. That would be a monopoly. Monopolies are illegal... Maybe games would just have cross-platform multiplayer? I know they tried that with a game(can't remember it now). PC dominated though...
It was Unreal Tournament 3. I remember reading the article, they took Console Pro's against Average PC gamer's and PC totally wrecked. Also, what's a Monopoly? I think of the game, but don't see it in an actual business.
this would be and epic machine, prolly have to sell my house to buy one tho! but with that being said, i like console wars. thats what drives the market forward. the companies compete to make something better then their competitors. besides if they where to make a xbox/playstaion baby, how am i suppose to make fun of those damn PS3 followers! (xbox FTW!)
This would be bad because there would be nothing keeping the price down. MS and Sony are competing with each other, and this competition causes price cuts and sales.
