I had originally created this map as a close quarters slayer map. I realized after the build was complete that it would make a pretty interesting invasion map (small scale). I have added the specific game type to be downloaded. Download and enjoy (hopefully). This is my second attempt at a forge map ( my first being a remake called boarding action classic) and my first attempt at an original map. Any and all feedback would be appreciated because this map hasn't gone through any sort of testing other than my own. Weapons List: Plasma Pistol X1 Needler X1 Needle Rifle X3 Plasma Repeater X2 Assault Rifle X2 DMR X2 Magnum X2 Shotgun X2 Gravity Hammer X1 Energy Sword X1 Grenade Launcher X1 Frag Grenade X4 Plasma Grenade X4 Here are just a few screenshots. . .
Wow, I'm surprised nobody commented on this yet, the map looks great and seems like you put a lot of time and effort into it. I love how you have an inside and an outside. I'm dl'ing this map right now. Can you maybe edit the post saying the weapons you placed on it? Great job again and keep forging bro.
Oops, yeah i'll get those weapons listed as soon as possible. Sorry about that. And thanks for the comment and reminder.
I played it today - I'm impressed. The design in there is fantastic - everything looks like it belongs, no overlapping geometry, no glass pieces connected to metal pieces, etc. So you don't feel like you're on a Forge map. You feel like you're in a missile silo. That being said, I did notice that you can easily lose your way in the silo. It's a smaller map so perhaps that would rectify itself in a few more games, but that's the only thing I'd consider changing - more aesthetic items or colors to give you a sense of location when you're inside. There are some sneaky ways to create benches, tables, etc that you might try. Two thumbs way up!
Great map! I love the idea behind it, very well made. Keep up with the good work. My input on some fixes. 1. The bottom lifts need some work, one works great, one sometimes works and one usually send you to your death. 2.The blue team initial spawn points seem very odd in comparison to rad team. blue team not only starts with high ground but also spawn behind and in front? that one confuses me. lol. 3.The hill on the tower behind the locked bars seems like it needs some adjustment as far as height and width.
From the pictures it looks very nice and smooth. Possibly a bit cramped. But that's okay, I like cramped maps. I'm unsure on you spelling of Silo, but I'm not sure. Ill get a game going sometime. Keep it up!
Thanks for all the feed back. I'm looking into a way to make the silo itself a little less confusing as far as navigation. I did notice that the one man cannon was not consistant and i am trying to fine tune it, the only problem is that it effects elites a little differently than spartans. In the end I may get rid of the two side cannons and stick with the one that fires you to the top. The spawn points for invasion were suppose to indicate that the invasion was coming from the surrounding area. I spawned the blue team on two seperate sides on the rocky area and I tried to even it out a bit by spawning the red team on two sides of the map behind cover. I didn't want any extremely easy kills at the beginning of the game. I know that the map allows for easy kills in the first place because of how compact it is. If you can think of another way to spawn in invasion I'm all ears. Thanks for all the feed back. After i get a bit more feedback, i will make all the adjustments and rerelease the upgraded map variant.
Wow! From the original pic, I saw the opening and I was like, eh, it's probably just 5 feet deep... but no, half the maps down there! that's pretty surprising and unique, nice job.
Yeah, the pics are a little deceiving as far as the size. I tried to give the outside area more of an arena feel and wanted the inside to be more of a complex. There is also playable area among the surrounding rocks which i thought would allow for more strategy. On another note, are there any forums on here which I can post a map to be tested before I post an official map on this one?
That's a good thing imo. Makes it unique Use the Tester's Guild. They're at a much better pace now that Reach has been out for a bit. Just make sure to read the rules/guidelines before you post.
You certainly nailed it. The best maps, in my opinion, are the ones where you forget you're in Forge world because you don't see obvious things like stacked blocks and the pieces are used creatively. I can't give this one enough praise for the originality and construction.
Thanks for all the feed back, I'll be posting the new version of this map in a week or two. In the mean time i will be watching this post for any more feed back.
