Most colored tattoos never seem to come out well in my opinion.

 

my friend got a swallow on her arm, and it turned out really well

I like more simplistic ideas and sketches, so I'd only 2-3 colors for the whole tattoo.

I agree that overly colored tattoos generally end up looking sloppy or like there is too much going on, so that's why I would try to keep it simple.

EDIT: I like birds a lot, but I feel another bird would overdo it, make it look kinda weird.
