YouTube - Halo Reach Vexis Fly Through VEXIS Investigating a distress signal, the UNSC soon discovers something more sinister at play within the abandoned compound. VEXIS is the second map I have created in Forge. After spending over a month and a half on my first map, LABYRINTH, I wanted something a little more simplistic. The overall core layout took only about a week to complete. Unfortunately, this is a map that was erased/overwritten 2-3 times by what seemed like a glitch in how Forge saves its files sometimes. I learned the handy rule of saving multiple... MULTIPLE copies. Luckily, I was able to eventually finish the map and have play tested it a lot among friends/family. All feedback has been good and players have had a blast with 8 player FFA/TS and Headhunter/Infection. Looking at the picture above: Red Team's base is on the right while Blue Team spawns to the base at the left. Each side is connected through a multitude of pathways within the middle of the map. Each side has 2 teleporters. One near the initial spawns and the other near the top of each base. The teleporter closest to each initial spawn sends players to the top of their base while the 2nd teleporter sends players to the top of their opponent's base. VEHICLE/WEAPON/MISC LIST: 2x Mounted Machineguns (180s) 4xDMRs (60s/2sc) 2x Shotguns (180s/1sc) 2x Needle Rifles (60s/2sc) 2x Needlers (45s/2sc) 2x Plasma Pistols (45s) 2x Assault Rifles (30s/2sc) 1x Energy Sword (180s) 1x Rocket Launcher (180s/1sc) 1x Sniper Rifle (180s/2sc) 1x Grenade Launcher (90s/5sc) 1x Concussion Rifle (90s/2sc) 1x Plasma Repeater (90s) 6x Plasma Grenades (45s) 6x Frag Grenades (45s) 6x Health Stations (15s) The layout for weapons was changed after I read some reviews/feedback on other maps displayed on these forums. I noticed most commented on the overuse of power weapons and combat focused in only 1 or 2 areas of a map. I tried to think how most matchmaking maps are done in hopes to improve that aspect of VEXIS. I eventually removed 1 of 2 Sniper Rifles and removed the Gravity Hammer (since I had a Energy Sword, as well). This map has been a lot of fun in play testing and hopefully a handful of others will enjoy it too! VEXIS is great for TS/FFA and, as mentioned, Headhunter/Infection. It is set up for all gametypes except Race/Invasion types. Download VEXIS Again, any/all feedback is welcomed! Thank you for taking the time to check out VEXIS!
If you want more feedback, you're going to have to put more pictures than what you have. I'm having a hard time depicting the overall design and flow of the map. My Xbox is kinda broken, but I think I can get it fixed by Friday, so I can give you more accurate feedback then.
Hi Antares. I understand people like a lot of pics and while it may sound lame/stupid I am not entirely sure how to go about that. I have 21/24 slots used up for contest purposes on my file share. Maybe with those remaining slots I can take some screen shots and save them to my PC and host them on photobucket and remove the file from file share and rinse/repeat. I also have video, but I believe it is only viewable with Bungie Pro? I am uncertain. If there is a way I can make these things more available I would definitely be up for that, I am just really unfamiliar as to how. On an off note I read some of you reviews on another map. Your points made were about line of site and cover, and so I was curious if you may also be able to look over my map Skyline? It is something I felt would be of a concern with people, although it never came up in play testing. I will try to get more pics up and maybe the fly through videos so people without Bungie Pro can view them. Thanks! PS. Get that Xbox fixed!
Sure, I'll look at Skyline when I can. Also, you don't have to upload images to your file share to get them here. Whenever you take a screenshot, it uploads to Recent Screenshots on Bungie.net. It saves like the last 25 screenshots or something, and you can download them from there. I have no idea how to even put up videos here/render them from Bungie.net, so your going to have to ask someone else, sorry! I vaguely remember looking at Skyline, I don't think I posted anything though. I can right now, but I can't give any "real" feedback because of my Xbox. I will when I can though. Maybe you can take a look at my map Marauder, when you get the chance as well.
Haha Marauder is the link I happened to just open too. Tons of screenshots! I will have to check out the recent screenshots and see what I can do about the video. From the pics the map looks like a lot of fun. Everyone keeps mentioning Lockdown? and with other maps Guardian and I can never remember the map names from previous titles. Are you currently still play testing Marauder?
