This is a relatively small multi-level map with a close-in and tactical gameplay encouraged. The map is a loose remake of my old Farcry Predator map "Arcania". Features in the map include a spawn area with little to no weapons in a small room high on the map. In this room, there are 4 drop-holes that drop the player into a larger arena type area with 2 small mini-bases. The upper area has spawns throughout for general play, blue and red spawns, and enough cover to protect spawn points. Drop points are throughout the upstairs area and can safely be taken from any angle (as long as you aren't forcing direction while falling) Dropping in to the downstairs area can give you a brief overview of the downstairs fighting area: Weapons in the "downstairs" area are intentionally small calibur (for the most part) to help encourage more close-in fighting. The drop areas use one way shields as trampolines/nets to break the fall from the upper level. 3 are direct drops, and the 4th is a man-cannon that launches the player across the screen to another "net" Each mini base has 2 floors that offer decent cover and allow for a more tactical approach to fighting. The bases are not symmetrical, but are designed to provide unique areas while still providing a balanced game play. Red: and blue: Once in the bottom section, it is very difficult to reach the upper section again through normal means (i.e. jetpack). There is a pseudo-concealed tunnel that leads behind the downstairs area to a teleport that will bring you above the spawn area. For those that find this area, there are some more powerfull weapons and goodies to grab before you head back into the fight.
It seems like an interesting concept. I just wish you would show us more screenshots of the actual map and not action shots. Even just like an overview of the map would be helpful.
More screenshots I'll try to add more screenshots when time allows. Please download the map and play and let me know what you think.
Screenshots look great. I'll dl the map this week and try it out. Looking forward to it =) [br][/br]Edited by merge: Gameplay feels a little constricted and not very smooth. You have to remember that it's Reach and not past Halo games and I think thats part of the problem while playing on this map. Definitely some interesting ideas but I do think its a tad small for my taste.
Map Size The map was intended to be small and I'm sure would be quite busy if there are a lot of people playing at one time. I intended the map to be playable with as few as 2 people. I'm curious about the feeling of "smoothness" though. Did you have any frame-rate issues, or is it just the game play itself? Were you able to test with more people? I've tested with some friends, but only with 3 people. We thought it provided good quick action which is in intentional counterpoint to the "snipe-fests" you so often see with larger maps. I think any groups larger than 6 would probably be very chaotic though.
well, being one of the first play-testers of this map, i can say that it does have a good concept and layout. i think it's best suited for 4v4. fun map!
