I'm making a prison break linear invasion game. It's early in it's creation, and I'm creating the cells the attackers start in. This is just the beginning of the game, I already have all the phases planned out, and none of them involve the cells. I just want a cool way to tell the simple story that the elites broke out of their cells in a realistic way. I don't want mines on the inside of the cell that they shoot to blow the door open, although I'll do that if I can't think of anything else. I don't want the budget to be huge, but by all means pour any and all ideas here, I'm all out of them.
You could always make the cell door a pallet. Alternatively, you could give the Elites a communal cell, make the first phase super quick and have them plant a bomb at the cell door. When it detonates, you can gate and spawn objects in behind the explosion to make it look as if the cell door has been blown off. I'm sure there's a video of someone making a destructible invasion gate somewhere...
This was something I used on my first map. They had to use two sword swipes per shield to escape. This was for an infection gametype, though. So sword-use probably won't be best for you. Perhaps it can work for you. It does somewhat resemble a prison cell, no? Not exactly Phase friendly, though.
I do like that idea.In fact, I would be using that right now if it weren't for the fact that the elites are the imprisoned ones, and that door looks very elite-ish Hmm. I've just started on the map, do you guys think the elites should be breaking out, or the spartans? Off topic: Kittenpaste, WHAT THE **** IS UP WITH THAT SIGNATURE? :0
how about you have a small crate in their cells which they have to push away to enter a small tunnel system???
You could use a system of explosives, where you use a trip mine as a button and fusion coils as the door, or use fixed fusion coils to hold up a crate. However, this would cost quite a bit of money...
