This is something I banged out just for fun over the last couple days. Usually anything I build ends up requiring endless adjusting and revising, but I figured that wouldn't be the case if I did a small map - small enough to be intended for 1 vs. 1 or 2 vs. 2 play primarily. Once I finished the basic design I realized I had a huge amount of budget left, and used it to build a city around the map proper. (This is something I had wanted to do previously for my map Canals of Venus, but that proved to be utterly impossible.) This map will be released very shortly. I'd just like to get in a few test matches on it. It's already configured for all game types except invasion, infection, and race. The main function of it will be small team slayer or FFA, but I could imagine some fun little objective games on it as well. If anybody would like to test with me or on your own, let me know. The beauty of the map size is that tests should be very easy to set up. I may upload the beta version to my file share if anyone would like to play with it on their own. A few screenshots: Weapons list: shotgun (two minute respawn), grenade launcher (same), three DMRs, one needle rifle, one needler, one plasma rifle, one spiker, two plasma repeaters, two plasma pistols, two magnums, two ARs, and a bunch of grenades. No power-ups (I did have an overshield, but removed it for balance reasons). Two health packs inside the main atrium.
I take it this was the map you were talking about last night? Aesthetics look pretty sweet, looking forward to running through it soon. I'll probably be down for some tests tonight... Granted I knock out some work for Uni first.
Cool, I'll look for you. Yeah this is that map. I played around on it a little bit with Requiem Fiasco, SPARTAN G086 and another guy, and we weren't taking it too seriously - but it seemed to be pretty fun.
Count me in on any testing you do on this bad boy, it kind of reminds me of my cloud city map i'm working on... in the fact that its an awesome city.

This map looks very nice, and I can't wait to play it when it comes. Looks like it would also make a pretty good invasion map to.

Ha ha! Well since you gave me fair warning, I will let it pass. The nice thing is that besides looking cool, it works really well - that curved surface throws players coming up the grav lift right on to the bridge. Made some updates to this map tonight, with help from Secret Schnitzel. Nothing too substantial. For one thing the structure in the main atrium has been replaced with something different. The original glass thingy is probably cooler looking, but because of the glass and the number of pieces involved it was creating frame rate issues. The new centerpiece is less complex (just three pieces), free of frame rate problems, and adds some superior twists to gameplay in that room as a bonus, because it has some openings in it as opposed to just being a big column. Apart from that, I also reduced the amount of ammo in the grenade launcher and shotgun, and set both to MLG-style drop spawns. Probably going to look to run final tests on this tomorrow, along with my new minigame Trackball, which I think is also almost ready for release (and has proven to be a metric buttload of fun every time I've played it).
yea im actually making a kinda similar sort of mancannon tube thingy on a map right now, and i was getting annoyed using the Short Tunnel. when i get back to my xbox im going to see if the Door piece will solve it.
this map looks sweet!! GT: Mister Arbiter i would love to test this wow i cant beleive that tube thing.. it just looks so great from the pictures this just looks like one of the best city maps ever
Nice map. 1v1 on it was awesome. You should add another small building if you have budget left but other than that this map was one of the best 1v1 maps in reach. Also, lower the shotgun to no spare clips, it was way too overpowering and it felt like that was the only weapon on the map worth grabbing.
Thanks man, that game was very fun and intense! I agree about the shotgun - I had already reduced it before to just 1 spare clip but it clearly needs to be even less.
