Some boats were never meant to sail through giant rocks. I haven't had gold for a while, so I'm posting maps that I've made in my limbo time. This map is quite literally, a boat in a rock. It's good for most gametypes. A top-down display of the map. Left side is the stern red base. Going clockwise around, the upper part houses the sniper rifle and a tower that leads to the top of the rock. The right side is the bow blue base. At the bottom, the shotgun lays waiting for someone to grab it. Take the grav lift here to go to the upper portion of the map. The upper portion, in the center, wraps around the lighthouse. Stern/Red Base. Enter either through the manhole or the captains quarters to go below deck. The grav lift shoots you to the top of the central rock. The tower leads up to the top of the map. If one looks carefully, one can see a path hidden in the water. This path connects the lower decks of each segment of the ship, opening up routes for sneaky individuals. Bow/Blue Base. Like the stern, you can enter through the manhole or through side sections of the ship. I realized after building that building at a slight angle creates bad spawns. It's not terrible, but it is certainly annoying. This structure houses the shotgun. To the right is a grav lift that shoots you to the central rock. This is the central rock/lighthouse. A single path wraps around it. Be careful of ambushing players launched out of grav lifts. Comment and critique please! 谢谢!
Holy aesthetics Batmam! That's a pretty nice looking ship. My only concern is that because of you lacking Live while making the map, you couldn't test it. This concern is increased by the lack of action shots. If you didn't test the map, you should try and do so. No need for the full-size parties. Just go at it with a friend and try to find any exploitable areas or strategies while playing.
I would enlist the help of the Tester's Guild if you would like your map tested. As for the map, you certainly did very well to sculpt that ship while dealing with a lot of seemingly challenging terrain and angles. I hope to get more time to play and will give this map a quick run around. Cheers.
I did, in fact, test it when I used a two-day trial. So rest easy about that. I'll do some more editing once I get a larger test.
I'm sorry,but...is this a remake of the "Stoneship Age" level from "MYST"? If it IS, I doff my cap to thee.
Ah...ah-ha....ah-ha ha ha! I was wondering if anyone would pick up the reference. I went into this map thinking exactly about that level, even so much to borrow its name. I'm glad I'm not the only one out there who has played that game.
YAAAAAYYYYY! But isn't Stoneship only broken into a ~90 degree angle? And since you moved it around and expanded a little, I wonder if there is still a compass room... Also, will you be leaving it at just Stoneship or expanding to the other islands or games? (Sirrus's prison Age in Revelation, the Cleft..)
Wow very nice map. What's cool is you forged it in an area that is largely untouched by other forgers. And hats off to the Myst reference, my childhood is very fond of that game...that and Riven.
You know, there are actually quite a few locations in the MYST games that would make EXCELLENT HALO MAPS! Doomsdale,if you wanna send me a friend request,I'd consider doing a collaborative attempt at a different MYST remake map,or even a series of them,if it works out! I've never co-forged with anyone, but for a project like a MYST map remake,I'd totally consider it.
YES! A Myst Map!! I am so pleased with this!! Ifonly you could insert the telescope theme that plays in that section. Have you considered trying to remake the submersible lamps area? That was one of the coolest places in the game. Very freaky. Any way, I'm going to check this out and I'll let you know what I think. Slamm
It's only loosely based off the actual level. I've been considering the same treatment to other islands, nothing meaningful has arisen, though I don't have time to begin with.
