YouTube - Halo Reach forge map fly-through of Convergence This is my map that I have been working on for the forgetacular contest. It is designed to be a laser drilling platform. I aesthetically made it to coincide with the waterfall in as the backdrop. I wanted it to be as beautiful as it was playable. Even if you look at it in forge mode there is a little cave at the bottom of the rocks you can play in. It's been a labor of love to get it finished. Only one problem is I haven't been able to get a full eight people to play on the map to get the needed video to enter it into the contest. If anyone can help with that before the 20th it would help. Perfectly symm side to side. Red V Blue, FFA, or Multi are set up. KOTH, Bomb, HH, and flags supported. Haven't added infection yet, need to work on that. The idea for the map came from my workings I did on my remake of guardian. I was looking at the center platform in forge and the changes I had made for Protectorate that I decided to do a SYMM map. Then I looked at aesthetics and took the time to move it all over in front of the waterfall. The map moves surprisingly fast. You can be on one level jump to the bottom after a fool and be back to the top in 10 seconds. Struggled with what weapons to add. Two needlers, two needle rifles, two snipers, two plasma snipers, four DMR's (two in each base), two pistols, two plasma pistols, one sword, one grenade launcher, one shotgun, one rocket launcher. It's title is from the fact that it all converges to the center. Enjoy!
the map looks interesting, but you need alot more than 1 picture fh viewers are to lazy some times to download a map to give feedback 1 thing that i can say is that with alot of close quarter areas itll get pretty easy to camp certain places and that will ruin flow of the game
Had a look at this in forge and it definitely looks like my type of map. I love the layout and the overall look - you can easily tell it's a drilling platform without having to look at the description. Unfortunately I've not being able to get a game together on this yet, but just from moving around the map it seems like it should have good flow. You can get around at a nice pace and it's very easy to move from level to level. The weapons all seem to be in just the right places. I will post again once I've had a game. Maybe if you're on at the weekend we could hook up.
Nice map bro, I flew around in forge for a while and it looks like a real legit map. Easy to get around which should make for some great battles. I play a lot of C.Games definitely a keeper and I will let you know more once I've actually get a chance to play on it.
Thanks for kind words. This map is what I entered for the forgetacular contest. I have a rendered flag game in my file share and an eight player ffa video to download if you would like to see what the flow of the map is like in game.
Played a 3 person free-for-all on this last night - very good fun. Even with just 3 people on a relatively large map the pace of the combat was really fast because it was so easy to find each other and move around quickly. The multi-tiered structure also allowed for a lot of sneaky assassinations and outmaneuverings. A lot of fun moments. I also understand the meaning of the title - with everyone converging at the centre and moving up to the higher levels. We will definitely be playing this again. Great work. If I had one question it would be about the energy sword and shotgun - I'm not sure they should be so close together - perhaps on different levels?
I've struggled with that one. Initially I placed other power weapons of the plasma launcher and hammer also, but from whittling it down I wanted to leave power weapons that would counter each other and with the pace of the map through playtesting it never came up that someone ran for the sword and then ran for the shotgun. With the changes in Reach most people seem to have a tendency to keep one long range weapon and one short range. Plus finding a different place on the map for the shotgun I just couldn't figure out. The hammer was originally on the backside of the top angle for the jump to the dish. That would be my only other thought for a place to put it... Thanks for the thoughts and I'm glad you enjoyed the map!
This map is perfect size due to the fact that it is so easy to get from one end to the other. The gravity lifts and man cannons are the perfect touch. Aesthetically it is the best smaller slayer-type map I have seen so far. I disagree with GameTime, I think a lot of forgers have gotten rid of tight passageways and close quarters areas with concerns about people camping, but I think Lockout was the greatest Halo map ever conceived, and this has the similar action packed gameplay that makes it so much fun without being overly similar. Congrats, 10/10. I can't imagine you having a problem with the Forgetacular Contest.
Thanks for the kind comments sir. I had more of a Guardian inspiration for it. Never thought of Black Out, but now that you mention it, it does have that sort of flow and feel. I'm glad you liked it, and hopefully we'll see it in a Bungie playlist down the road.
