Zanzibar Ruins Zanzibar Ruins Well there isn't a lot that needs to be said about this map. I'm sure that almost everyone has played this map a few times, and if not your missing out. Zanzibar was my favorite map in all the halo's and i was happy to remake it in Reach forge. One of the things my map brings to the table is proportion, I spent a lot of time trying to get this to scale. That being said This Zanzibar remake is a combo of Halo 2-3 versions with some of my own added upgrades/features. Hope you enjoy it and plz plz plz send me some feed back seems every map i post don't get many responses. This is the updated version of my map!
My oh my. People are stupid for not posting in this sooner. The accuracy is striking to the original Zanzibar, down to nearly every last rock and structure. While you cannot make the wheel "rotate" as the original Zanzibar had, you should insert a well-placed Grav lift or Mancannon that allows you to reach the top of the central circle that was possible to do by "riding the fan" in Halo 2 and in Last Resort in Halo 3. But I'll download it anyway, considering how much of a gem it currently is. Edit: Your map description is VERY boring. And you say you have taken this from Halo 2 AND 3, AND added some features yourself, so shouldn't you give it your own name as well? Just a suggestion.
So downloading this. This was my favorite map in H2 and H3. I'll post some opinions when I get home and test it tonight.
well zanzibar is a semi autonomus part of Tanzania. so call it Tanzania. On to the map. Ive seen a couple remakes but this is without a doubt the best. the attention to detail in someplaces is amazing but in some places you put your own personal touch. ive played a few slayer 3v3 matches. (plenty of long LSs and SRs) i love you. you are a great person and im glad that some one finaly made a good remake
I will tinker with a mancannon and see what i can do, only problem is my budget is 0. Going to have to delete a few things. As far as the map description ill think up something I'm terrible at presentation lol. one other thing i can say is this map has been in my file share for 2 months under my old gamer tag Howie Powndervag and I think it was up to 700 downloads. Was hoping to post on here and have it sky rocket again guess ill sit back and wait.
My loadout camera was facing directly into a wall when I loaded your map. :x That was kind of annoying but an easy fix. I also, in my curiosity, was testing the boundaries. Some of your killzones are a little unforgiving. Maybe pad them by 2 meters with softkills before hitting the hard-kill core. That seastack acting as your hill also clips into the wall at the floor. Not a big issue, just a bit glaring. I must admit, I can't often test with other players (tiny friends list) so I just did a solo run through. I can't give any comments on the gameplay yet. Otherwise, I loooooved the map. The beach felt like Bungie meant to remake Zanzibar right there but forgot.
Ill have to get in there and mess around again didn't think i had any bad kill zone placements but could have moved one on accident. About testing the map tho my friends never want to play customs so I'm in the same boat hope some of the other people that downloaded it will get back to me.
FIrst of all, this is a pretty sweet remake, great attention to detail. I would just like to say that the only flaw that comes to mind is the wheel. IN both versions of this map, the focal point was the moving wheel. Your wheel doesn't really look circular, and has no use. Like someone else said, you should work with the grav lifts to make this usable, but I was thinking it would be possible if you put some grav lifts and set the pieces to normal phasing, you could have the pieces spin through the grav lift. I know this sounds impossible and very well could be, if you could pull this off, you would no doubt win the hiden treasures and possibly the forgetacular contest.
Yea I know the wheel kinda sucks but had the limited budget to work with. I have done the wheel differently but it cost a lot to do. This coming weekend I have off from work and am going to try and fix some of these things. If anyone else has some input plz feel free to post your thoughts and ill see what i can do to make this beast of a map shine a little more.
this is a very accurate remake to the original. you kept alot of the jumps from the original and that just adds to it. too bad its hard to get a perfect circle thats accurate to the original = /. the oldschool halo 2 days are comin back lol
Update Ok had some time last night and before work today to tweak my map a considerable amount. My main focus was making the wheel look... well more like a wheel I think I did a decent job with the scale of it. Only had one problem I ran out of curved doors for it its ok tho I made it look like the wheel is in ruins. Also added the needed grav lifts as well, I'm looking forward to posting my new version maybe tomorrow night. Wanted to know should I post the new version in a new thread with my own custom name or simply edit this thread. Let me know your thoughts on this and I hope everyone likes my new version. [br][/br]Edited by merge: Well its now updated let me know what you think, also remakes cannot be entered into the forgetacular contest and the other contest is done already according to what Ive read. [br][/br]Edited by merge: Fixed the download link... for some reason it was still directing you to my old map version.
