Hi, I have an idea for a competition. At regular intervals (to be decided) a building challenge will be posted, and you will have two days (or something like that) to build and submit your creation. Best one wins! Specifications will be set and forgers will have to follow them e.g Size maybe materials (but probably not) etc etc etc examples for the forging tasks could be: A sniper tower, An Egyptian Pyramid? A treehouse, a castle.. Pretty much anything I'm thinking people could then integrate these ideas/structures into their maps or get some great ideas for them. the thing is... I have neither the commitment nor the time to get this thing going. So I'm asking for a few ForgeHub community hot shots to take this idea and get it off the ground, I think it would be really cool. You can take all the credit I don't care there could be prizes (if someone wants to sponsor) otherwise I guess winners could just earn Forge Hub Street Rep anyway I tried to keep this brief (mission accomplished) and sorry for my scrappy writing skills :\ Suggestions are welcome! The community can go ahead and do this for fun, but we already have things planned. The way we do it and have done it in this past: Longer then two days They build an entire map We haven't had time to do it at regular intervals. But I love your idea, and that you want to help the community get going. Seems structured and I would like to see some of the members get to this... ;]
I like FH's official contest because they offer prizes for the best maps. Honestly, I don't even have the time to forge my own maps, let alone a competition that only gives me two days. I am a very busy person, but would love to forge more because I feel like I am really good at it. I just can't apply my skills on a regular basis. I believe there are other who feel the same way. --dc
well ofcourse the time limit could be changed and this won't take as long to complete as it is a single structure not a complete map. What's this competition you speak of? Link it?
good idea, as a new mapper i would try and enter. But two days is really, really short. Planning for me takes 2 days with all the thrown out idea's i have.
well whoever got GTA it came with a free 1 month maube if u see wat im saying that could be the prizes or like 100 microsoft points idn but this seems fun
As far as official contests go, I doubt that this would be a frontpage sort of thing that makes headlines. I like this idea, but I'm thinking: The contestants have to make a map around the building with the building being like the focus or control point of the map, all the fighting takes place around it and inside it. And you could make a userbar or sig saying like: [///Teh Mastars Building Contest Winner///], but a really nice one. What do you reckon? Your ideas great, it gives people ideas and a contest at the same time, you should go ahead with this, but plan it out a bit more.
I agree that this should be implemented, now it may not be eazy to do, but this should be a frontpage item, it wouldn't really take too much space even, just the small section that rusty suggested, maybe one pic, and a link to the winning maps...This is a really good idea, and i hope that more people get involved to get this rolling!
I think there should be more map contests... Except I really wouldn't want to make a map only to see 15 similar maps beat mine out. Oh well, it would still be fun.
also, the other idea i had for this...this is going off on a tangent now...but you could have 1 thing as the contest for the first week (eg. a Sniper tower), the next week a base, the next another base, the next a br tower...until you have enough items to create one amazing map done by the forgehub community! Huzzah! Forgetactular!
Maps that change gameplay, competitively. I could just re-submit Gesuido, and not have to do any actual work, lol. BTW, short time limits would suck like hell, because it takes me weeks just to finish designing the map.
i would rather have one competition in a long period of time, that ends. and then another one starts then a short always going on competitions..
The competition time limit would definately be more than two days. What do u guys think would be a good time limit
2 weeks...then like whoever suggested, i really like the idea of using the 1 free month from gta4 as a prize, didn't check who suggested, but you are a smart cookie sir
