Howdy, fellow forgers. For my first map, I present Fallen AT AT, something for all of the Star Wars fans out there. It is compatible with 16 player slayer, but it is at heart aesthetic. Give it a spin, see if you like it. Questions or comments, just hit me up on Live.

^^Just want to point this out for size reference, that is a warthog parked under its rear.

The interior, starting from the rear entrance:

Don't let the outside fool you. The inside is actually quite the adventure, since the body is set on a 45* angle. It does look a bit empty inside, but the ratio of the tilted floor balances out the battlefield.

**Yes, I know that the body and the inside look a bit crummy. 1, I'm human, and 2, The AT - AT FELL over. Thats 300+ tons of metal hitting Earth. I don't think it's going to stay in top shape, do you?

If you are pregnant, don't play this. :) You climb over about 70% of it, and the inside presents a 4 dimensional battlefield. Cheers. So yeah, hope you enjoy this 2 and a half hours of Forging, so heres to hoping it was worth it.

oh wow, that's awesome. it actually looks much better destroyed than all of the standing up ones i've seen, and it's very well forged. Something i've discovered playing reach is aesthetic things are always better when they're half destroyed, like a sinking ship or a crashed plane always usually looks better than a standard one. You should be proud of this map. ^_^

^ lol @ the utterley pointless post

Thanks for the compliment, D4ni3l. I'm a Starving Forgist (heh), and this is the first map I've actually advertised. So I'm glad it's pulling in some good reviews. I had actually intended for it to stand up, and had created all 4 legs before I realized that there was a height limit lower than I had intended. If you picture that standing up, it wouldn't fit :D. However, I think anything old, destroyed, and half covered in plant growth is a pretty powerful image. The Vertigo-inducing innards was an accident, I didn't even have that idea in mind, so I rolled with it. Happy playing.

That's probably because fully intact things made with the forge world objects doesn't seem quite right. The pallet of objects one can use is expansive but not expansive enough to fully recreate objects as we see them in our mind's eye. Usually curves are hardest to recreate well, also things with color or changing color and shades are very hard to represent well. Things that are destroyed our mind's can perceive the forge pallet better that way. Suddenly we understand that the object doesn't match perfectly with how we see it in our mind because it is broken. Our mind links the broken image with what it should look like whole, this gives the illusion of the object seeming closer to what we want it too look like than what a non broken object would.

This is what aesthetic forging is all about, finding the right pieces for a specific scenario and putting them to a good use. I just want to let you know that what you did here (forge and post wise) is extremely good. You have my definite props, and I'll be keeping my eye out for further work from you.
    Awesome job!

Thanks for the props, Grim. I've traversed your work before, and find it quite amazing. I'd like to ask something though; do you plan your creations, or launch into them? For me, I spend about five or six minutes hovering around until I get hit with a revelation. I'm just curious as to how other forgers work. Also, I actually do have more work coming out, something I just about completed (say 95%). A bit of testing and then the picture grabbing, and she ought to be on the rails for posting. It's a casual map, so look for it in the forums sometime this weekend. Cheers, fellow forger!

Being a star wars fan myself I would have to say this is a f***ing epic map. Its scale is a bit off but I think you're as close as the real thing as anyone is going to get. Haven’t gotten around to playing it yet, but I’m looking forward to it. My infection driven mind has forced me to ask, Could you make your map Infection and other game mode compatible?, I feel it will benefit your map greatly. 10/10 Appearance 6/10 Play

Thanks, and sure, I can do that. Although, what with gametype-specific mapmaking on Reach, it's just as hard as decoding the human genome sometimes. And yeah, I really wasn't measuring scale with actual stuff, but more by what a spartan can fit in. I'd rather have a little bigger set than one that I couldn't fit into.

This looks great, I'm definatley impressed! I love how the map is all tilted, how does the interior play, is it relitivly easy to walk about?

How you made this in 2 and a half hours I dont know?! especially with all the differn't angles involved!!!

Thanks, I'm glad that I can appeal to people with this map! If you remember that one map from Halo 3, Distortion, it was set at a 45* angle, and even had a room that was upside down. That is how the inside plays, for the most part. Easy to walk about? Why yes. But I would recommend not concentrating too hard, or you will get a headache :D.

For the most part in my life, I have not studied, have not drawn rough drafts, and have not laid down plans. I guess you could say I have a photographic memory for things that I enjoy or find interesting (hence forgetting things like homework), and I can visualize anything with my 6 lbs of fat. Sometimes, I just play it by ear, like this map. I entered forge mode and put down pieces that I thought would work. This map essentially built itself, and the angles just happened to be there ;).

I'm also really nerdy and finish things very fast.

    So yeah. <(*-*<)

Amazing detail on the AT-AT I personally think that destroyed vessels of all types adds to the creativity of the original idea. Again awesome job. DL and liked

Played this map the other day with some friends. Lots of little areas to hide and sneak around or just run the heck away. Great gameplay on both slayer and infection. A little lag sometimes once in the AT-AT but nothing too serious.
