Okay, I was able to play a few 4v4 system link games on this map and I gotta say, it's pretty fun. I was only able to run games using 8 players, but I think it would have been perfectly fine with 16. BTB games aren't usually my thing, but linking these two pieces of land with this massive bridge was a neat idea and I had to check it out. For the people saying the middle might be a point of interest, it is. Every map has a place you try to hold off, it's map control. The bridge is big enough that it isn't really an issue and the multiple levels it's made of makes it harder to hold off. I especially like the warthog and mongoose and ea base bc it makes the initial rush to the middle very exciting! My only suggestion would be: Maybe add a banshee to ea base as well. This will prevent a sniper perched on the top floor of the middle map structure as well as provide a nice aerial target for the guy with the laser All in all your map is a lot of fun!
So I have just one question. The name. Was it an attempt at humor or just a stroke of luck...? Attention span anybody?
Thanks! I've been waiting for comments from people who've downloaded it and played it,to get some real feedback. And I'm glad you've confirmed my thoughts and discoveries on the bridge being a place that; while being of huge interest,is also not really entirely "dominate-able".I think it's because of the several layers needing to be approached from different starting points. Anyway,I thought long and hard about putting a banshee,or falcon at the very top of the center bridge...I decided, through feedback from my play tester friends, (such as "It's a good thing you don't have a banshee on this map...it would totally dominate! seriously; friends of mine ,more than one, said that very thing! *shrug*) ...I decided that I wanted this map to be a ground-assault-only map. ...but with jetpacks,of course. Also,I worry that giving someone access to fly around, outside of the play area...even with kill areas in place, encourages people to screw around and try to get places that have nothing to do with playing the game...which,I find detracts from the overall experience of Halo...so I decided to leave it out. Such is life. I'm glad you had fun on my map,and hope you continue to in the future! [br][/br]Edited by merge: ...that was a feeble attempt at punnery. Yes... ..."Attention Span"/Tension=Tension Span! I thought it was clever ...meh...sorta. lol But at least it didn't keep it's original name "ABRIDGED".....blecH!
lol, I thought it was called Tension Span bc there is a lot of tension in the fights on the bridge which spans the distance of the gap... Wow, what was I thinking!
Actually, you're right ...like I said: Attention Span... (like the kind you need in fights on this map) + "Tension" (as in,tension in fights)... = "TENSION SPAN". Not to mention that it's an actual SPAN. [br][/br]Edited by merge: Seriously-don't let that stop you... ...I have played matches on this as small as 3 person FFA and it went really well! Just make sure you come back here and tell me how it went! Which brings me to a point: Although I have already submitted this map for the Forgetacular Contest, and I have no plans on doing any more updates to it, I am VERY EAGER to hear reports back from people who've played on it...good reports, bad reports...anything. Vehicle balance, weapon balance,flow,aesthetics...I really think this map is something special, but I am also the proud parent...I'd love to get some more concrete outside perspective, which could help me towards making other great maps in the future.
