Yes, that is one thing I'll never change I just put a backfield spawn in the cave so the Spartans have their own sort of spawn hive. I'm gonna get a couple games on tonight, if anyone would like to join. I want a game with balanced teams and competent people, most ones I've played so far either one team is full of guests or there are idiotic 12 years olds that seem to think the sniper is their property.
Lack of teamwork because people seem to only want to go for kills in objective games = definite loss. I find that's something that when making a map you always have to take into account. I'm not sure if anything can be done to the map itself to force players to not sit on the ridge with the sniper because the sniper is a definite contributor to the gameplay. I was thinking over this and thought about if you removed the sniper and added another or two DMR's but then I thought that this might give the spartans too much mid-long range superiority, so I think now that the snipers there it may be there for good. People who want kills will go for the easy targets, aka the people not strafing all over fighting other people on the ground, and target more of the people that have just spawned. You're calculations are incorrect.
It was just a quick guesstimation based off the images. When I made my version of a Covie ship, it looked a lot higher than the one you have. Interesting...I'd like to look at yours later and see what you did versus mine.
I used two vehicle lifts for the one underneath the ship and there's a one way shield to stop you from being splattered against the ceiling. There's also two other lifts on the sides made of the stronger man cannon variants. Any higher and it'd be too hard to get up. I can get you in on a game whenever if you want. This also goes for anyone else who would like to participate; I think I'll be releasing some time before Sunday, possibly Friday. Also, 6v6 plays beautifully for this IMO.
Invite me when you're playing next, I'd love to get a game on this and would be happy to give you my opinion afterwards.
A possible solution for your sniper problem could possibly move to the ground so that it loses its huge height advantage. You could maybe place it halfway between the the back spawn for the spartans and then smexy generator complex.
If your ever testing and Im on invite me. This map looks awesome. My mic is on the fritz so I may not be talking, but I can still hear.
I'm testing right now for anyone wants to join. @Angel of Grief, it's meant to be there for the height advantage. It's powerful but it's meant to be to give the other spartans on the battlefield some sniper cover fire.
I understand; that makes sense. I was just trying to think of a way to promote more team cohesion. But that's just my loss due to the lack of team work speaking.
Sad that that game only ran for a bit. Some thoughts: In P2 as elites, the spawns are very far from the zone such that if you die, even with sprint, it can take the full 20 sec timer to run back to defend. The turret in the front is a fun idea, but with the sniper rifle it quickly becomes a liability as the sniper can get anyone out of it and then it becomes a tool for the Spartans to hold their side of the field. P3 seems like it can easily be controlled by the banshees and the real counter to that is the falcon but it goes down with two banshees locking onto it and homing in. When the banshees are in the air, you can't really manage to get the bomb to the grav lifts. I only saw one banshee so I'd look into changing it's spawn time or reducing the maximum simultaneous banshees.
Thank you for taking the time to post back feedback, I had to go out and get a flu shot, a last minute thing that I didn't know about beforehands. I've received a couple complaints about the first thing from other people too, so I'll move that spawn closer. I was thinking about your second suggestion earlier so I'll try that out and see how that goes. There is a spartan laser and rockets that spawn in the cave for the spartans every 90 seconds I believe so banshee dominance shouldn't be that troublesome.
Wooooooow. I tell you how many times that the spawns are too far from the objectives, and you decide to do it after a Junior member brings it up? (No offense to Texaport) Seriously, the balance of the game doesn't really change if you move both teams proportionally closer to their objectives, it just becomes more fast paced. Is that so bad? Anyways, I was thinking, maybe you should change the first phase to a territory, since that is what essentially already is. And it would be a little more like the classic Invasion set-up.
I would totally love to accept that, but unfortunately I do not have LIVE Gold, so that's impossible. It's really a shame I deleted my draft. I should have saved it so I could re-examine it and compare it to yours. :/
It's not so much moving both spawns up to make the game faster. It is that if you spawned without vehicles as the covenant and they were in the territory, you couldn't reach them withing the 20 seconds it took them to capture it.
