Why is it that elites lack armor customization? I mean it surely couldn't be that hard to program it like Halo 3. Unless they decided to spend all their time on spartan customization.

Personally this would be my setup for my elite if they were customizable.

    Helmet - Ranger
    Chest - Ultra
    Shoulders - Ranger
    Wrists - Ultra
    Legs - Zealot

It's because elite armor gets way less usage in matchmaking, so they decided to focus solely on Spartan armor. The different armors give people a chance to show off their rank instead of going for the one with the smallest head (remember H3 SWAT)

I would like to see more customization for the elites too but armadillo is right.
Also, when Bungie raises the level cap, will there be new elite armour?

Thing is, I was about to come in here and say exactly the same thing. Straight up bugs in the game weren't fixed, so they clearly didn't have the time to invest in a whole new set of armour customisation options (masses of new models being most of the work) for a species that's not used nearly as much as Spartans. But actually the OP raises a good point in that they only allowed full armour selection. Even if they hadn't given us any more models, why not at least let us mix and match with the parts they have made? It'd be kinda cool and I don't see how it'd be any extra work.

I have to admit I was pretty surprised when I unlocked the final Elite armour at Lt. Colonel, but I hadn't even thought about the possibility of more after the level cap being lifted. It'd make sense tbh, and the current selection is really slim and fully unlocked at quite a low level overall, so it seems a waste not to. You make a good point, so let's hope we get more options come Black O- I mean, 117 Million Challenges...

That may be true with no one really using the elites, but some people don't use girls on Rock Band so should they just make it to where you can't make a girl character? Regardless if some people doesn't use a character model they should be able to customize them.

There is almost guaranteed no new Elites coming with the cap release. If there are more elite options, I will eat my shoe.

    Programming a passive character for rock band doesnt even compare to programming a whole new entity for reach. I don't want to waste several years explaining it, so think of this;

its the different between making a paper red by dumping a jug of paint on it, and making that same paper white again by licking off every bit of that red paint after it has dried.

EDIT: and tsb, thats gross ;)

Okay I guess that was a bad comparison, what about the customization of your allies in Mass Effect. You could customize Garrus' armor which is an alien that is the closest to an elite. Then again they scraped that in the sequel and just made alternate outfits which was a stupid move on Bioware's part.
Anyways I'm pretty sure it could be done but since they care more about spartans they won't. They might as well have just got rid of elites in Reach since you can't customize them, my friend got mad about this because he likes being an elite. He said "I'm not going to be an elite because I want to show off my unique character that I made", he played as an elite in Halo 3 because you were able to customize them with different parts.
I thought Bungie was going to end their last Halo with a bang by being able to customize elites just as much as spartans or at least armor part switching like Halo 3, but hey I guess pissing off the elite fans was worth it right?

i always liked elites aarmor in halo 3 but no one ever used them, and i never was one because i found that it was easier to get headshots on elites so thats mainly the reason i didn't be an elite.
